Need help. I Bought a v3i (maybe a Brick)

Any help(for dummies) would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a used v3i off ebay. (Non iTunes) Listed as everything works. Only problem is it will randomly dial out on its own.

Received the phone. Installed my sim from V3 and fresh battery. Power on with red key, keypad lights - screen lights up - finds network. (no wallpaper on screen)

Once powered up keypad no longer functions, with the exception of the left top key.

Press once - it enters the phone book. press again to exit and it turns the camera on. press once more and it exits to the main screen with a note{busy try again later** ???

The only way to power off is to remove the battery.

From the PC with mobile phone tools, I can access the pictures, video, audio folders and the contacts.

Tips - tricks - hints appreciated

Note: I test called and the phone did alert to an incoming call.

i think u should flash it to a new mp and it may do the trick but b4 that try a master reset and clear

Go to bootloader mode by turning off phone then power up by pressing #,* and the red power key together. Once on bootloader mode conenct to PC, and flash a compatible MP.

you can try the virtual keyboard in MotoKit, or just master reset it with MotoKit

Thanks for the info so far.

I emailed the seller and got this reply {when we got the phone we had to download software from our service provider so you may want to do that, and yes i deleted files, i had to clear everything out that was under my name. let me know what happens. thanks annette**

I doubt from their selling tactics(in ratings) that I could get a refund.

I will try the Master reset and virtual keyboard first. It doesn't look like the phone has gotten wet or anything, so I think they just messed something up when deleting their info.

Update
Used MotoKit to do a Master Clear/Master Reset.
This cleared the old phone book list.
Now Have Sound on boot
Now have (original?) Wallpaper on boot.

Motokits virtual keypad now partially controls the phone. Can scroll through menu screen but cannot select anything. Can open/Close contacts with left soft key without jumping to camera.

If the 4way rocker works the same on V3 and V3i then the v3i keys are all out of wack. Center press does nothing.

Keypad on phone still locks up.

Used my sons sim card for some testing.

Figured out the key assignments are all crossed up.(using Motokit virtual keypad)
Left soft key=exit
Right soft key= nothing
Left rocker= back one
up rocker= nothing
Right rocker= scroll menu
down rocker= scroll menu
Right(large)side key= select
Call key= select(on some options)
#2 key= scroll down
etc.,etc.,..............

Can someone point me to one of apristel's basic MP's for Cingular(english) Maybe that will correct the keypad issue.
