i cant seem to find anything about my s/w version on m3,it's usually R47A_G_08.D9.XXX, or just generally R47A****** (etc). Does it matter about what comes after R47A? I noticed the mods mostly the MP are for either itunes version or DAP version but my phone has both. at the very least i believe it's an international version.

(1 is it some sort of hybrid? i'm not sure if it's a dual boot but it doesnt say anything about that in software or the boot loader (*# power-on)

somewhere i found my phone is a Russian model. i dont know if it was was buried deep in the phone's info. or how i found it, for the life of me i cant find out how i found that info(perhaps it was on some software i used)

2) is it kosher to have an unlocked phone from Russia, if i cant tell the legality or legitimacy of it's import? i purchased it pre-unlocked from amazon i have a legit copy of MPT. and it doesn't complain/say anything about. i just dont want agents knocking on my door at 4 a.m.

3) can anyone point me to any mods that i can actually do for the phone?

I did some reading about flashing, flexing, etc, while i was waiting for my phone in the mail(and after i got it) the first thing i did was back up of my silver v3i in SHX format with both P2Ktools 3 VS and a trial version of Flash&Backup (in the same format). saved all my seems, with P2Ktools 3 VS.

I cant seem to mod the seems (no pun intended) with any results. the only thing i can use that actually makes a difference is P2KAE 5.x). and then it's only when i go to Menu> Phone Tools> (anything).

(my phone was listed as 1GB) and saw at the bottom that "* This is the max size Motorola guarantees to work. The phone should be capable of supporting up to 32GB mini/micro SDHC" I called Motorola to confirm this and the lady said the most the phone would support was 512MB. I told her that i was currently using a 1GB drive and she put me on hold and came back and said the max it would take is 1GB.

I went to SanDisk's website and did their product compatibility search and the popup said they recommend their 2GB (part number SDSDQ-002G-A11M) for my phone. I dont know if the 1GB i'm using is class 2 or what) (do a wikipedia search for Secure Digital and go to the speed class rating and x rating section) but the 2GB is class 4 (writes at 42Mbits/sec).

this is relevant only in that i'm trying to fill my card with video (or should i say audio i can extract from the video on third party software).

P2KAE 5.x only lets me raise my recording default from about 1 minute 17 seconds to 17 minutes (regardless of the resolution) via the GUI from Menu > Phone Settings > video it tops out at 512.

4) Is it a motorola arbitrary cap on how long the phone can record?
i've done the 004e_0001>offset 412 on a fresh unmodified seem and it has no effect.

I know i've been verbose, but is there any help for me?

what's after the R47A is the software version.. specially the last 5 characters..

1) your phone is an R47A.. An iTunes V3i.. you can continue with that software or continue to the R4441D with a conversion pack.. I think the R4441D has the best mods..

2)I don't believe its illegal.. take it easy

3) modding.. as I said before.. I think you could continue to R4441D.. but continue reading about flashing.. specially about the software you need to use.. somes monster pack requires an specific software.. the newer MP I guess is the NaNo Razzr 1.3 ritza.. I have that and I thinks is very good

I did upload the modified seem, i made several backup copies of the 004e_0001 seem and edited one in p2ktools v3.0.9.961 and the other in XVI32 v2.51.

is that the seem i even want to edit?

In XVI32 i went to offset 412 and changed the value to 56 (the first time), loaded it to my phone and it had no effect, so i changed it to FF (it had no effect). the only thing that had any effect is
P2KAE v 9.0.0.5515.
it has a preset that does what i want, to extend the default video recording time from just over a minute to longer. but it only records 17 minutes and 17 seconds. it doesnt matter what rez i set. it lets me set up to 512 Mb of recording time but the video size ends up only being about 5 Mb.

Can anyone tell me how to max out the recording length for my v3i R47A?
or is 17 minutes the best i can get w/o using a MP?
