Noob needs help, what mods should I do?
Hi, I'm quite new to phone modding, and need some help. I do have a background fixing and tinkering with computers, though...
I have a Razr V3i that was originally a contract phone though Centennial Wireless. I am currently using the phone as an AT&T Gophone ($50 unlimited everything plan*). Calls and text messages work fine, but since the phone is configured for the Centennial network I can't do multimedia messaging or web browsing. Is there a way I can enable MMS and Web?
(*Well, unlimited everything as long as I don't have a smart phone, data gets expensive if I have one of them.)
I have also seen some other mods that seem enticing, specifically enabling the use of 2GB micro SD cards and EDGE network connectivity. Are these feasible for a noob to modding? I'm not entirely worried about these if its going to be some long and involved process.
I did try to read around online and piece instructions together to do it on my own, but found a barrage of dead links combined with outdated instructions and incomplete information.
Phone details:
Flex Version: GSPV3IHCENTENA175
Technology: Quad-Band GSM
S/W Version: R479_G_08.B5.86R
DSP S/W Version: 63363600
Language List: 0003
Data Ready: Yes
Browser Ready: Yes
MP3 Ready: Yes
Boot Loader version: 0A.52.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: It looks as if I can use my 2GB SD card on the phone as it is, however the DAP locks up when updating media library (I can save and access pictures form the SD card, though)Last edited by OtakuN3rd; 05-03-2012 at 02:51 AM.

Boot loader 0a.52 is kinda sick that doesnt allows modding.
You need to downgrade to 0a.30 then need mod, but if you are not familiar with much of downgrading, it may cost your phone dead .
I would say, spend some more time on downgrading archives before working on it.
After your done, get RITZA_II's MP to flash.
Any problem, other modders will always be up here and happy to help.

OtakuN3rd,
We basically own the same V3i, down to the firmware and bootloader. What you have is a sticky firmware that officially supports 2GB microSD.
Check out this guide for properly installing/updating DAP:
EasyGuide(tm) Installing Digital Audio Player (DAP) - MobileModding.US
Also, a good place to start and get familiar with V3i modding:
Start page - Hack the V3i
Modding takes a lot or research, reading, and patience if you don't want to end with a brand new cellphone paperweight. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask further questions.
Hi alaminok!
Nice to see you still helping around with modding our forever beloved model, RAZR V3i. Even with my new phone, I will never throw my V3i away, too many memories that one. I have an Xperia arc S now and modding smartphones could be trickier than P2K. I was hoping to get back to M3 but it seems there isn't any active scene when it comes to Sony Ericsson modding.

I think your problem may be WAP/MMS settings; here's a resource - Access the Motorola RAZR V3i Browser Settings.
Some flexes have a menu where you can change them. Otherwise you have to use a P2K editor of some kind, but I don't remember the file to change (I've slept since I last did this). Your phone is unlocked, apparently, since it accepts the ATT SIM, so that's one problem you don't have.
@kathy025 - Welcome back, Kathy. Nice to see you here again. Thanks for all the work you've done for V3i folks. No, not much for Sony Ericsson, this was originally ModMyMoto, after all. Still is, really.Last edited by Saurus; 05-13-2012 at 12:13 PM.
