Hello, V3i question please

I'm new to the forums and mainly cell phone moding. I really just want to upgrade my software on my phone because even though it says I have the most current version in Motorola tools I get the feeling its bs. Regardless I know that you have to know your specific version r47a or stuff like that and I don't know mine. Basically I did the "getting Connected" section in the forums and now i don't know what to do. All I want to get accomplished for now is updated firmware. I have a v3i and it doesn't have itunes that’s all I can tell ya. Any help would be much appreciated ...Thanks

check your bootloader and s/w by going into b/l mode

remove battery
hold # and *
insert battery

there will be no benefit of updating the firmware
you can flash a modded mp which will give you more features/mods
