I am new to the hole Motorola world so let me introduce my quick story to you all.
Before having a Motorola i had almost every cell brand out there, i tried them all (never had a smartphone tho).
After my last cellphone was stole i was using an old Nokia 6600 since it was the only other cellphone in the house. But after a few days the screen started flickering and when i opened it to see what was the problem, a small chip on the back of the monitor was detached from the plate.
Not having another phone i went down to my mother's apartment and asked her for a cell phone. She came out with a Motorola U6.
After only a few minutes holding the phone i fell in love with it. The shape and the keypad were super. It felt so good in my hands and the look was awesome.
Immediately i went to check if some modding was possibile, and as i was using google i got redirected to this site. Following the guides and threads and a few hours of my time i have now currently installed maxmod 1.0 monsterpack recompiled with only 2 languages. After 2 days it was time to get myself a new cellphone. The only problem was i could not turn back from this design, and the only other similar phone i could find was the U9.
I went to a store an found it, after trying it i had a tremendous disappointment; the fast U6 clip opening was not present on the U9. It has a slow uncomfortable one.
Since i cant open and mess around with the store's not bought cellphone i could not determine if is possible or not. And here comes my question:
Do you guys think its possible to put all the U9 hardware in the U6 case?
I know it sounds hard and/or undoable but from what i saw the only challenge is represented by the front (or screen) part.
The U6 case is bigger than the U9 one so i think the back part of the phone will easily fit in then it can be fixed in position with some silicone.
The front part requires some adapting (cutting and drilling) but the case wont be changed, i am almost sure the camera will need to be moved down since the U6 hinge will go in its place. That means i will need to make some wiring too. All this is possible only if inside the front part there is some free space and the pieces are not all blended together.
Can someone provide me with some opened U9 pics?
Did someone already tried this?
What do you guys think?
mmm... too much TV mate... that's a whole lot of work!!!
why don't you just try to "kill" your U6... then may be you will be able to flash it with other MP...
I have both a U6 and a U9... but my U6 is now with a "emergency only" problem so I bought a U9 and flash it with a pretty good MP.. but i'd never try to modify the hardware! desides... i thin the flex and other parts are not in the same place to make it fit on a u6...
Well its probably not more than 4 hours of work... Too much tv? You just have to change a case. I love modding so even if it sounds hard and it will take a lot i will still do it since ill have fun. I will try as soon as i come back from vacation. Ill post pics if it will come out well
