Hi! Welcome to M3!

No, you don´t need any special software to copy photos (or any files) from your phone to pc.
First, check in your phone that the conection mode is set to "Memory card" (or "Mass Storage").
And conect the data cable to your pc and wait until your OS detects the new disk connected.
Search the files that you want to copy/move to your computer. Drag and drop them to a folder in your pc.
