krzr k1 can't do a name search

the problem i have is i can not search my krzr k1 phonebook by name. when you enter a letter in the phonebook, it doesn't move to the fist name that begins with that letter. l can not change from mixed or sequence. tried master reset but this did not work.

this problem was there from when i got the phone last year but didn't bother to fix plus the warranty just expired two weeks ago. i believe i saw a flash for this last year? if so, where would i find it? i tred to search for it without success.

i have never mod before but the guides here are pretty good so think i should be able to do this. i hope?
