    Question K1 Not operating

I'm sure that this situtation has been posted too many times, but having a problem with my GSM unlocked K1.
I had it charging up the other night. The next morning, after I disconnected it from the charger, I turned the phone on, and got nothing but a black screen. When I closed the phone, then I got a white screen, and nothing else. Thinking that since I am at least getting those that the problem is fixable, but not sure if it is simple to do.
I looked at some of the other posts that mentioned white screens, but not sure if what I have is the same. Also, have never modded my phone, or opened it up, so not sure if I should. If anyone can help me with this, I will be very thankful.

A white screen usually means that your PDS is damaged. you should still wait for a 2nd opinion.

off-topic: never keep your phone plugged in for the night. It needs a few hours worth of charge. 3 hours does just fine. No Li-ion battery charges completely, it reaches to something like 89-91% and stops. After that, it just heats.

Thanks for your reply Tux...how repairable is the problem, and is it a difficult fix for someone that hasn't made mods to the phone before? Also, I'll make sure that I only charge it as much as needed from now on.

Odds are somethings damaged, If its never been modded, and just abruptly started doing this, its most likely hardware. K1's, in my experience are prone for the flex coming loose. The front glass is glued on, but needs to come off in order to get to the screws. Its a good bet that that is the issue.

And I've always kept my phones charging all night, never had 1 issue. Its just paranoia. lol, sry Tux
Thanks Sublime1184 for the awesome siggy

It reduces the life and efficiency of the battery.

Thanks also for your help Mudder. Was wondering if there are any videos on You Tube to help me do this properly? Might do it myself, but thinking about that I might mess the phone up worse. Been looking at for quotes to see what a repair might cost, and have seen prices between $45 to $55 just for a flex ribbon repair. The phone only cost me $70.

Found this site that gives instructions w/photos on opening up the K1, as well as many other phones, for those looking for help:

I'm having a similar problem with a Krzr I bought yesterday (actually I bought two for like $28! But one doesn't start up at all). I made a new post about it. I was able to reflash the phone to a new MP - but still the screens don't show anything - except the white screen just like you described. Hopefully in a few days some gurus will give some more ideas.
