Sorry man do not have a V3i, and I dont know if anybody over there in the v3i forum is playing around like me with undocumented IDs and semi-transparency.
Looks like it's not the most popular thing
I think I'm the only one here working on these things at the moment.

These IDs were found by NWD, I'm just posting them here with some detailed description and pictures.
- ID 980 - Entry mode icon (ABC) position
- ID 981 - Entry mode type (primary, , numeric, symbol, secondary) position
- ID 982 - Character display value
These all pertain to the title section 458.gif in phonebook edit mode.
Go to phonebook, select a name at random, select edit, and the popup window will appear with these icons in it. This is highly useful for moving those icons to suit your title, rather than re-editing your graphic.
So as you can see, positioning inside the borders of the title image works pretty well (1st image). But then when I positioned the ABC (ID 980) outside of the borders of title image (458.gif) I got a strange background image. We think that this is due to bug in the software. So it is only possible to position these items within the borders of the title image.

The bug pixelke is mentioning reffers to the alpha transparencies in relation to the element's resident background image (in this case 458.gif) I tried moving the same element on my v3, and got the same results. This is a common issue concerning alpha transparent images. You tend to see it in gif images due to their inability to use 32 bit true alpha found in images such as .png.
Unfortunatley there is no way to correct the problem therefore it is recommended you stick to the element's background image paramaters, unless you want this undesirable outcome. The same thing will occur in most of the elements if you use a transparency. You will see this alot in the volume adjustment icons unless you use a fully opaque image. The effect is brief on those, but still there.
Now on to my newest findings
In the colors section:
ID 138 Row 323 Battery Meter Text Outline
ID 140 Row 325 Battery Meter Text Color
These both represent the color and outline of the Battery Meter text when you navigate to Settings>Phone Status>Battery Meter in the V3 (not sure of other models)
Also found in the colors section
ID -41 Row 145 Outer Display Clock Outline
ID 473 Row 639 Text Dialog of Floating Up Window (Outline) This pertains to the text field area of 459.gif when in a call. The best way to test this is after uploading the changes to the phone, go to your voicemail and call it. The dialog will appear, and you will see the changes to the text field's text outline (lower text, not title text).
I still haven't located the actual outer display text color itself, but I will eventually, unless someone else beats me to it...lol
Take care and I hope this helps.Last edited by NWD; 06-13-2007 at 04:37 AM. Reason: tagging

Okay i checked out those IDs posted by you and I'm confirming them for L7. I'm including screenshoots also:
- ID 138 - Battery meter text outline
- ID 140 - Battery meter text color

I don't have outer display so I can't confirm the ID -41 Row 145 Outer Display Clock Outline one
But I can confirm ID 473, and add ID 472 for the same text. 472 was already documented I'm just paring this two here.
- ID 472 - Text dialog of floating up window (text)
- ID 473 - Text dialog of floating up window (outline)

Found two more:
These are pretty same as the ring style volume window, but it's not the same. Search for App volume in Java Settings or Alarm volume in Tools -> Alarm Clock -> Edit -> Volume. Don't really know how to name these. (Will name this Volume win. #2)
- ID 198 - Volume win. #2 -> Value (Outline color)
- ID 200 - Volume win. #2 -> Value (Text color)

- ID 442 - System Software title (Text color)
- ID 443 - System Software title (Outline color)

I think this is global also, but doesn't really took the time to test it.

I think what I'll do is try to get in contact with an actual Motorola rep tech, and see if I can weasil a legitimate document for all the elements pertaining to a default skin. Default meaning no DRM's or any specific mods other than the skin itself.
The only other thing I could do is create a skin with all the elements marked, and different colors. This way some of the unknowns would be easily recognized, and the colors would be individualized thus making them recognizable. It'll most likely be the most hideous skin ever made, but would serve it's purpose. I'm wondering if the Scarlet skin would serve this as well.
Anyway, I'll keep plugging away.
Oh on a side note, I attempted to add the defs to the skilist, and though they did display, it rendered the new grouped sections from the newest list undisplayed. So as a result, I'll just add my findings here, and wait for the update.

Thats a good idea, the one about the skin with undocumented IDs being very obvious colors/images. Lets get this thing mapped!

Ok, I couldn't sleep last night (quitting smoking) so i went through a good portion of the colors, not only do I think that alot of the colors truly don't exist, but i know for sure you cannot edit the outer display's digital clock font color, only the outline will change. If anyone knows different, feel free to correct me.
It's my belief that skin colors serve a universal structure base with more than one model type of moto. So what might be able to get changed for say, the L7, may not exist for the V3, and so on.
While some of the operating systems are very similar, this would account for the vast number of unknown color values. If the original designer of S4M had tagged for each phone model he would have probably killed himself after the first phone....lol.
So it would stand to reason, by leaving them undocumented, he saved himself a great deal of coding anguish. Personally, when you get into THAT much work, I would hardly call it lazy. Especially considering he did this for free.
Anyways, just something to consider. Now onto more findings
These are all colors findings
ID -41 Row 83 text field numerical value color This is the number displayed when editing contact info. (in accordance with ID 982)
ID -41 Row 98 1 of 2 of the cursor blink colors, (the other is documented).
ID -41 Row 118 Text msg Horizontal lines. This (so far) seems to only be associated with the lines when you type a text message.
Lastly a brief word about the underline element. The underline element you see for things such as Greeting: ±NWD± in the common list also pertains to the horizontal line you see when in web addresses. If you edit the one, the other will be edited also. I set mine to 255 trans, and both are gone. So keep that in mind for future editing
EDIT: For some reason I think I was looking at the wrong one for ID -41 Row 83, it should be -41 81, If anything it's only two away....lol. Sorry for that.
Welp, that's it for now, If I find more I'll list them, but to be honest it 's harder than searching for a female virgin in Los Angeles....LOL.Last edited by NWD; 06-14-2007 at 08:09 AM. Reason: new info
