How I Received Subsidy Code from AT&T for V3xxr
Two months ago I had my son call the local AT&T agent and ask them
if they would unlock our phone. They said absolutely not. We will not unlock your phone so you can use another provider.
4 days ago I called the AT&T customer support number which is
1-800-331-0500. Going through their automation service I could not access a customer rep., so I reached a rep. via the wireless selection.
Had a wait time of 5 minutes and then the rep came on. She voiced
my phone number and asked if this was my correct wireless number.
I told her no, that this was a LAN line but that I had a situation with my wireless phone that I needed help with. She said, how may I help you. I told her that I was going to put my razr V3xxr on my wife's T-Moblie account but they said that I would have to contact AT&T and have them release the phone. She said, what you need is the subsidy code.
I said, ok! She said I need the IMEI number. I gave her that and she said that she would input this number into her computer and one
of two things would happen. Either she would have the code for me in about ten minutes or she would have to make a file on it which would take 7 to 10 days before I received the subsidy code. I said great.
Ten minutes later she came back with my subsidy code, asked me if
there was anything else she could do for me, I said no and thank you, she responded have a great day and that's how I got my subsidy code. It was that easy. I was very surprised that a customer rep had the information and was able through that information to give a correct subsidy code. Seems that AT&T has changed there policy.
Hope this works for you!
9-22-09 6:14 AM. Checking the forum I noticed two reply's to my thread and I don't appreciate #2's post
insinuating that I lied to obtain a subsidy code from AT&T. So allow me to make clear that the statements
made in this thread are TRUE!!!!! Nowhere in this thread do I give the impression that I gave false information to obtain a subsidy code from AT&T. So #2 (ZEDBRA), KEEP YOUR UNSUBSTANTIATED COMMENTS TO YOURSELF. As a matter of fact if you see a thread with my user name, pass it up because
what you have to say brings no light to the subject. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by gerald99; 09-22-2009 at 05:35 AM.

I wish I was this lucky. I called them and they asked me for the last 4 digits of the social security number of the account holder. This is a phone I have that belongs to a relative, so I guess I will have to ask that person to make the call.
Sucks for me I guess. I wonder if it's worth the trouble to get the subsidy code or if I should just pay the 20 bucks at a local shop to get it smart clipped. Subsidy codes are permanent right?

all unlocking is semi-permanant. if you accidentally flash a locked MP, it will be locked again. so if you get it unlocked, dont flash a locked MP

Or just write down you're subsidy code, like i did
