V9x skinning
OK, I just got my brand new v9x due to the fact that the insurance didn't have anymore regular v9's to replace my old one, so they decided to send me the new v9x for 50 bucks.
All I want to know is that if I can do the exact same mods just like the regular v9 from at&t, such as use the same skins and replace the cl.gif

Yes, Skinning and changing the cl.gif are done the same way

The only problem with skins is that you cannot access all the icons due to it being branded to ATT. The ones I made use the stock icons so the icons all match. Also, you cannot edit the mma_ucp. You will end up being in boot loader from start up if you try. Other than that, Like Luigi said, pretty much the same.

Well the at&t branded menu icons should be in a/ or a/mobile/system from what i remember, they are numbered gif files.
