[Guide] MMA Editing for V9X ! It works !

Hello people,

After try, kill, and test and test and test on my RAZR2 V9X, I finally got it working ! MODDING THE MMA FOR V9X

Let's get started.

First of all you have to download your mma_ucp stored at a/mobile/system



Now open the MMA Advanced Editor 0.6 and select the default profile and let's open our mma_ucp, you should see something like this:



If you see the image, I pointed to the 1~, 2~, 3~ those are Youtube, Motoid and Myspace.
So we are gonna make our own mma_ucp, adding items, deleting items, moving items... and save it.

Now we are gonna make a copy of the mma created and rename it to mma_dcp

We should have 2 files: mma_ucp and mma_dcp

Then open the P2k Commander and go to: a/mobile/system and now delete: MMA_UCP, MMA_DCP, MMA_VYR_INDEX y MMA_UCP_TEMP.

and Now let's upload the 2 files created by us.

Now, if we restart the phone we are gonna be able to see our new MMA EDITED !

But... after open / close the flip the menu will switch to list view and the new icons are going to be deleted, I meant the Youtube, Motoid and Myspace icons and we will have just 10 icons.

Once this happens, we have to connect the phone again and download the mma_ucp uploaded before, and now, we are gonna edit the mma_ucp again adding the rest of the icons, save it, then make a copy of the file and rename it to mma_dcp, just like we said before.

Now again open P2K Commander and delete these files: MMA_UCP, MMA_DCP, MMA_VYR_INDEX y el MMA_UCP_TEMP

and now, upload the 2 files created: mma_ucp and mma_dcp

and now...

It looks like Personal Argentina is using generic mma_ucp. Therefore MMA Doctor 2.0 could work on it.

(And be patient about the firmware it's on the to be uploaded list )

I recommend that anyone using AT&T Firmware (WCDMA 850/1900) switch to either PERSONAL or CLARO Argentina Firmware. They are smoother and more managable and much easier to debrand.

The MMA in both flexes is a standard 12-icon format for the most part. After a data session there is no annoying Data Transfer Pop-up and there are no Network Lockouts. The WebSessions transfer over flawlessly.

They come with decent stock apps like Google Maps, and MotoID(Shazam) with ask once Java Permissions.

If you decide to flash either Argentine flex you will need to transfer over WebSessions, seem 005b_0001, PBK Category, and mms_working_profile.txt from the ATT&T flex for this flash to function on AT&T's network. You will also need to delete the dnp.prf file from the new flex to remove any unwanted Spanish text.

The MMA can be modified successfully but it is not a perfect result. I always end up with an extras icon that I don't like, and the Options menu doesn't work either.

I don't know what the Europen V9's are like but The MMA for WCDMA850/1900 flexes has a built-in UI configurator that allows you to move the Menu items around and switch from LIST view to GRID view for the Main Menu and Sub-menus using the "Options" function.

I personally recommend the CLARO flex. It is relatively painless.

Don't forget to remove "Ask for Lock" before you flash.

I used MMA Doctor to "repair" the menu. That's all I did. I did not modify the MMA in any way. I simply "repaired" it and uploaded it back to the phone and I got an instant brick.

Luckily I always make backups before I mod anything and reflashed my backup Flex.

I have ATT Bootloader 7.70 Flex R2633121ER_U_9E.03.3AR. Ok to use CLARO flex? I just d/l file, but don't want to flash until I am sure. Thanks in advance.

This is the solution to the Options menu is just inside the folder "Program" to create an icon called "MAINMENUOPTION" right there and create 2 sub-folder called "LIST" "GRID" and nothing more!

It works again the option "Options"

Not sure where to post this. Installed Claro and got it working pretty well. Had to re-flash backup a few times before I got everything right. Anyway, I found out that seem 0032 from Claro will disable the annoying "Data Used" nag. Don't know how to u/l or I would. ATT Bootloader 7.70 Flex R2633121ER_U_9E.03.3AR accepted the seem and then didn't have the nag. Thanks again for all your help.

Good guide! jeje with mma advanced editor acordate make the final list of the main settings menu option reordedr and in view of the grill set list, etc. So when you are on the go button menu options! Grettings!

I tried doing this procedure and got to the point where menu items were exactly the ones I wanted, but the phone was limited to "List" view.

That, I understand.

But, you lost me at the point where you say that after deleting the menu items, we need to re-edit mma_ucp to add the three icons back.

I must be missing something because if the point is to delete unwanted menu items, why add them again? Now, I'm really confused.


I'm using the Rogers F/W, but have the CLARO Flex installed - it has 12 icons in the main menu. I would like to delete three of them and have just 9.
