Nope it wont.my new PC has 2.8 Ghz core 2 duo.its reaaally fast.just one thing.i would recommend a minimum of 1GB RAM.you would get 512 MB normally but i would upgrade to 1GB.it'll make a HUGE difference on the performance of the PC.

- 07-17-2007, 03:16 PM #8http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/826...mment_count=20In many ways Core 2 is the same as Core: The chips are built using the same production process and fit in the same sockets as Core Duo chips. Putting aside Core 2 Extreme (a fancy version of the Core 2 Duo), you won't see many spec changes: Both chips have the same frontside bus speed of 667MHz, but Core 2 Duo is now available at somewhat faster clock speeds (as I write this, 2.67GHz chips are available). The frontside bus communicates between the CPU and RAM (and other components), and it's a notorious performance bottleneck for computers. The Core 2 also has the same L2 cache that the Core has. However, there are architecture changes to the silicon that give the Core 2 more sophisticated processing abilities. Both chips exist in desktop and laptop versions.
Why does all of this matter? Performance, pure and simple. In my tests, Core 2 Duo computers outperform Core Duo computers on tasks across the board, from rendering graphics and video to spell-checking documents. The speed improvement varies widely, but on average it's about 30 percent. That's significant in an industry that thrives on tiny, incremental improvement. Better yet, there's not an appreciable difference in battery life on notebooks, as power consumption for both chips (at the same clock speed) is about the same.Visit our iPhone forum and check it out! I must admit I hate Intel to death. Every intel chip ive had has been sluggish. I'm sticking with AMD. they do good S**T!!

Uhhhm, Core 2 Duo is dual core Ajeya.
Personally, I would go with an AMD equivalent, there so much cheaper, and if you get a high spec one, the performance is practically the same.If it doesnt work, find a bigger hammer.

my brothers core 2 duo lags durring games but it's because their recommendation is 2.0 Ghz and his dual core is 1.8 Ghz per core, i'd go at least 2.4 per core. the games that lagged was designed for a single core, so can't use both.
also soon games (and some other apps) should be multithreaded or whatever it's called to use more than one core at a time, after that they should run fine.
the hardware's a bit ahead of the software (like usual) so software's just gotta have time to catch up.
the reason i'd go with at least 2.4 per core is that way it should be sufficient until games and apps are made to use both cores.
the one i want is the intel quad core (AMD's has a bad design flaw. might have been corrected with the newer ones now though), but their almoast $1000 then the motherboards that support them are high priced and hard to find one with everything you want (there's not many available i guess)

Intel just made big price cuts. Q6600's went down around 40% and e6600's also went down. They released new a line of new cpu's with a 1333 MHz FSB that are cheaper than the old 1066 cpu's and are supposed to run cooler. Too bad you just missed it
How much did you pay?
