Would this thread from HowardForums work by just enabling 850MHz from a SEEM edit and keeping it a V180?
I've never modded a Moto before and thus am a little cautious.
Thanks again,

Motelona arrived - BUT I NEED HELP PLEASE!
I just got my Motelona. It's not called 158x but XY968, but, meh, it's the same thing.
Unfortunately, the ringer doesn't work. Does anyone know where the ringer is located and if I should check the connection first prior to resorting to return the thing?
Thanks in advance, everyone!

The speaker/earpiece did work - I made a call and was able to talk and listen.
Here's the firmware details: (I think I got it right)
Flex version: GSIV188T673PR129
S/W version: R364_G_0B.D1.1AR
DSP S/W version: 62D7D700
I got the one that came standard with MobileQQ (as well as the "special" video clip) with English/Traditional Chinese/Simplified Chinese. I was able to hear the beep-beep key tones, as well as the touchtones, but when going into the ringtone style menu, none of the ringtones/songs produced any sound while they were played. There were also no startup/shutdown sounds.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I actually decided to open the phone up to check it out (well, flashing will require me to open it up anyway). I found a loose connection, as follows:
This photo shows the two green wires which go to the earpiece. The green wires are soldered onto a black piece which is then (possibly) attached to the circuit board. I put a square around it in this photo.
On my phone the wires are yellow instead of green. The black piece has been lifted up in this photo because it is loose. The two red lines show the two points where the black piece should sit on the board.

This is a second photo.
So, should I solder the black piece to the board using those two points?
Or, is it some other problem altogether?
Thanks in advance!

Motelona Gsm E158/xy968
alright...

so i just received my MOTELONA XY968 retro brick direct from hong kong off an e-bay auction. upon removing the battery pack there is a authentic sticker with E158 and some serial #'s on it. i went 2 fry's electronix 2day with brick in hand 2 find a damn star torque pack. LOL and the EXXXACT same thing happened...the lil asian gurl behind the counter @ register 23 giggled and showed it 2 her co-workerz!!! im getting dejavu from reading andrewGS postings!!! LOL. n e wayz. when i got home i discovered the lowest star bit was a 10 in the set, and now im all pissed off.

within the short amount of time i have had this thing...ive already noticed the reception is bad sometimes and it drops my service, gimping me 2 that lame "emergency only!" screen.
i have found useful/disappointing in4mation in the howardforums. the battery charger is bad 4 the battery. horrible glue and solder issues, wires that need consolidation, reception/antenna/speaker issues. im scared 2 even crak mine open!!!
so, long story short/synopsis: if you can crack the beast open and get a connexion with your computer via USB. u can change the firm ware/flash/seem or whatever. (i don't really know what all this means) and essentially get a better reception and/or GUI? (definitely gotta change those horrid inaudible china sounds and 666 PORN!!!)
...but if u go v220, how does the camera feature work? does it crash the phone if u accidentally click the button?
----IDEA----
is there a way to add bluetooth & MICRO SD ability 2 this cumbersome chunk?
EDIT/UPD8
okay, so now ive had the BEAST 4 over a couple days now. read a bunch of forums. and so far all i have done is crack the thing open (which is a T8 torx, T7 works also but loosely) and utilized the mini-USB 2 replace the awful inaudible ringtones/lame wallpapers with more livable ones (using motorola phone tools). but as for moding the firm ware or flex from 180 to 220 is still beyond my capacity @ this time. let alone seem edit or re-flash the phone. (perhaps flashing the phone is the terminology for re-flexing or updating the firm ware)
all this stuff is very new 2 me. this quad band theory mentioned sounds nice, considering i can barely keep 2 bars on this chunk. ive tried 2 download some editors like the p2k and whatever. but i cannot read the scribbly russian? i think i need andrew 2 help hold my hand through this. or somebody with the essential knowledge i need.

I just received me Motelona 158x and I have a question maybe someone here can help me out with.
How do I delete text messages? It sounds like a dumb question but I really cant find any delete button or anything as in a normal motorola phone.
xxalexisrulesxx,
I see you are in Miami. Do you know anyone that can mod this phone down here as I have no clue where to even begin.
