I suggest you ask in the Z8 section rather than here
.
Please don't post in *CAPS LOCK, it's irritating.
Good luck on finding that motherboard.
If you want my suggestion:
Go on eBay, and buy another Z8 with a broken LCD. Those should be cheap. Once it arrives, disassemble it, and take its motherboard and put it into your Z8
.
Edit: This in my opinion is a good deal from where you can obtain a "new" Z8 motherboard:

Just wanted to thank some of the guys on this thread and maybe help someone else out with my contribution. . I got my Motelona XY968 today, and I love it. I had to figure out how to unlock it to quad band, but once that's done, it's a great little phone.
After putting together all the different knowledge from this forum and all it's links, I made a little tutorial on how to unlock the Motelona to quad-band. Enjoy!

Hey, just signed up. Been using one of these for a few months just thought i'd share this antenna fix, because originally it had just a short length of random wire soldered to the antenna pad and it was on 'emergency only' all the time like most people report, the external antenna was just for show.
I got some RG316 coax, soldered the core to the antenna pad on the top of the V180 board, there's a bare copper pad for the shield (ground) underneath. With the other end you have to remove the antenna socket, disassemble the socket, solder the core to the middle and the shield to the outside.
I get perfect reception all the time now. Unscrew the antenna and it loses the signal so it turns out the external antenna is an actual antenna, they were just too lazy to wire it up properly.
Battery hasn't been a problem although I had to completely rewire the charger since the board inside had come loose and broken half the wires. I get around 3 weeks use out of a charge.
Attached a pic of each antenna connection to the V180 board.Last edited by Bugle; 06-17-2010 at 04:11 AM.

Hello folks,
I'm just a new proud owner of a Motelona XY968.
I'm about to fix the antenna issue, but I have to admit that the condition of the phone is not as bad as I could expect.
Now, I would like to flash it with a better firmware. Here are my specifications:
-no carrier branded, exactly like a Motorola phone sold on its own, in stand alone
-not anymore the Asian intro and outro musical animations when the phone starts up or shuts down
-quad-band enabled
-if possible, with French language
Here are the technical data given by the phone:
-Flex Version: GSIV188T673PR129
-S/W version: R364_G_0BD1.1AR
-DSP S/W Version: 62D7D700
-Language List: 004D
Where could I find such a compatible file? Thanks to which tool/software could I flash the phone?
Thank you for your kind help.
I am ready to keep the current firmware if I can satisfy the conditions above just by editing the SEEM file. Just tell me what parameters should be changed if possible.Last edited by canut; 09-28-2011 at 03:28 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Hi, New guy here.

I've had my XY968 for about 2 years now and it's been sitting in the closet. It still needs the mods. Any modd-contractors out there??
PM me if you would be interested in a side gig to make my phone work the way it's supposed to. I'm in the US.
