Guide : Quick font creation and porting

Hey guys,

This's a quick and simple guide to create font flashes or porting for P2K and P2K05 phones. Note that this guide may be limited for E770, E1070, V1050, V3X, V3XX, Maxx, K3, V9, K1, Z3, L9 and some other models. You can't create or port font flashes for E398, V3, V3i, L7 and some older models using this guide. And some language packs including chinese, russian, baltic and arabic requires font creation with moto lang editor. Check out kent lkc's huge guide for those languages.

We need ;

SBF Re-calc 1.24
3G Font Tool 2.3
High logic font creator [Necessary if you'll deal with ttf]
Stock CG4 for your phone / firmware [ Check phone files/your phone model / Language packs or fonts subfolder ]

Steps ;

1-Start SBF ReCalc 1.2.4
2-Click Open flash file and select your stock *.sbf or *.shx font file.
3-Click Split flash file. Sbf recalc will create new files in your font folder.
4-Close SBF ReCalc.
5-Start 3G Font Tool 2.3 and click File / Open
6-Browse your font folder and select *-CG4.smg
7-Click Save, *-CG4.smg_Font1.ttf, *-CG4.smg_Font2.ttf and *-CG4.smg_Font3.ttf files will be created inside font folder.
8-Let 3G Font Tool running in background and start Font Creator software.
9-Open *-CG4.smg_Font1.ttf and your desired font *.ttf file with FontCreator.
10-Copy the desired fonts glyphs from your desired *.ttf file into the proper boxes within *-CG4.smg_Font1.ttf file.
11-Save as your modded *-CG4.smg_Font1.ttf file , as 1.ttf name.
12-Open *-CG4.smg_Font3.ttf and your desired font *.ttf file with FontCreator.
13-Copy the desired fonts glyphs from your desired *.ttf file into the proper boxes within *-CG4.smg_Font3.ttf file.
14-Save as your modded *-CG4.smg_Font3.ttf file , as 3.ttf name.
15-Click 3G Font tool which is running in the background. Click on font1 and click replace button, select your modded 1.ttf
16-Click on font3 and click replace button, select your modded 3.ttf
17-Click Create and save your new modded CG4 file as neu_CG4.smg in your font folder.
18-Close 3G Font tool, we don't need it anymore.
19-Delete *ttf files and *-CG4.smg.bak1 at your font folder.
20-Start Sbf ReCalc 1.2.4, Click Open CG-Folder and point your font folder.
21-Sbf ReCalc should list 3 files ; *.hmg, *-RAMDLD.smg and Neu_CG4.smg
22-Click ReCalc checksum, you will see " Calculate Checksum...... done. "
23-Click Create sbf file you will see " Creating sbf file..... done. "
24-Your modded font flash file will be created in SBF-FlashFile folder.
25- You're good to flash it with RSD Lite.

i have downloaded the 3G Font Tool 2.3 a few times but it doesnt work i get only a error ihave tried it on an other pc too but the same result??

You need to have Microsoft .NET 2 framework or higher installed on your phone.

WOW! this req a lotta suff, installing the Framework (not a prob), and buying the Font SW(a prob)..

problem; have a v3xx...s/w verson-R26111LD-AS_U_96.OAR ; tryed several times to change font to chinese take out. it will load but no-contacs,media ,or music section. ive heard u have to load seperately how is this done? my son has a v3xx also, wonder if i can use his full backup on my phone in order to change font? please help as it would make it easyer to read my text,thanks.

hello, i tried the process that you explained and i was almost successful but my high logic font creator is not registered so i was not successful...

I tried this process many times, each time following the eact steps, but i get a white screen everytime i flash. im trying to port DuePuntoZero to L9. I break the DPZ and get the fonts, and copy the glyphs to the Arial.ttf

3G Font doesnt give any error either (once it gave a font too big error)

Im using the Z3 DPZ and Lp003 Arial for the L9. Is there any compatibility issues?

There shouldn't be any problems. I've used the exact same process to make fonts for L9 before and it does work. When I get out of work or maybe tomorrow, I'll catch you on google talk and we'll go over the process, if you want.
