Make sure youi sort the characters first by clicking tools - sort glyphs, that usually helps, also you can delete unused characters

Thanks for the tips guys, but it turns out that the version of 3G Font Tool had some bugs. I updated it to V2.3 and no more "File Too Big" message. Created new font file, and flash file, and successfully flashed new font back to phone. Looks great. Only thing though, I have square outline characters where the spaces should be in the Date. Should be easy enough to fix.
Now I should be able to port any font to fit my phone.

@Clarkey, I guess you don't have to make that font for me after all

Hey kent, nice guide, made my first custom font

However one thing: When scaling the glyphs I would recommend to do vertical scaling from fixed point - X = whatever, Y = 0. The reason is to keep the base-line for all characters on same level (otherwise some characters were floating, which happened in my case). And maybe the horizontal scaling from center, but that's just my feeling

Thanks Semseddin for the signature and avatar.

First of all, thanks for the guide. I've been using it to create fonts for a while now but I'm still having one small problem. Usually I just play with it for a couple of days until I fix it but I still can't figure out how I fixed it each time. Everything works perfect except for one small detail. I like to have my date displayed like this...
24 JUL 09
or
24-JUL-09
...but instead, I get a square in between the day and month and another one between the month and year. Does anyone know how to solve this?

show me font1.ttf or synergy bc full.ttf or synergy bc basic.ttf that heppens to give you squares.
Then i will know where the problem is.FIRMWARE TEAM™ Member

Thank you very much kent_lkc. I'm trying to build it for V3xxR. Here it is
- 07-25-2009 03:16 AM #56
you've removed Glyph c1269($0189) which use for date format.
Glyph sfthyphen($0070) look alike c1269($0189) but it's NOT for date format.
I always discourage using quick font guide because if you aren't sure about which Glyph is needed then this is the problem.FIRMWARE TEAM™ Member

Thank you very much. That's probably why I couldn't figure out how I fixed it each time. I just kept deleting glyphs to make the font fit  Now I know. Thank you very much kent_lkc!

the more Glyphs you've deleted thats mean you are making font for own uses.
You couldn't guess what people need to display their Lang properly, so, just keep the stock Glyphs untouched.
If you having problem adding edited font using 3G font tools, then use MotoLangEditor to do the job.
I preferred using 3G Font Tools to edit "AS" type of LP because MotoLangEditor will remove something from CG4.
just sharing thought . . .

I understand but I still have two problems.
1. MotoLangEditor says "Error read langpack!"
2. When I edit a stock language pack and save it, it always gets bigger. For this reason I have to delete glyphs. If I only delete a few glyphs, it gets REALLY big. Do you know why? Am I missing something?
TIA
EDIT: I started out by editing language packs I downloaded from the net. When I built the Stargate SG-1 and BankGothic (30 Seconds To Mars) language packs I used the "Schoolgirl" language pack and simply replaced it with the Stargate SG-1 and BankGothic fonts I downloaded because the Schoolgirl language pack was the biggest I found at the time (I didn't know about stock fonts until I found your thread). When I built the Monster Energy language pack I opened stock language pack and replace with edited font (I could not find a Monster Energy font so I built one). It was too big so I had to delete glyphs. I used smaller downloaded language packs as a guide to know what I could delete. That's when I started getting squares.
EDIT #2: Nevermind on problem #1 above. I just found MotoLangEditor 2.4.0
EDIT #3: EUREKA!!! Nevermind on problem #2 above because I now have the entire stock font with my changed glyphs using MotoFontEditor! Thank you for suggesting it to me kent_lkc :hi:Last edited by phrotac; 07-25-2009 at 02:47 PM.
