mac vs. pebl

I am new to this so I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, I checked and could not find. I have an unlocked PEBL, UK version, that I want to switch to US English. Tried flashing with LP0003 and had no effect. I am using it on ATT/Cingular and it does not auto update time and date. Do I need to update firmware, will the standard moto monster pack do that, etc? R478_G_08.84.2DR is currently on the phone. Is this the latest or is there something newer? Also, I am using a Mac and cannot find the backup software in the download section. Does it exist or am I just looking in the wrong place? I apologize in advance for tne novella.

If milkbone98 is out there... cannot get past the erase part of the flash. I get either a message that says "write" or "2.0b$" In either case, nothing happens after that no matter how long I wait and the PEBL screen stays black. I can reflash the phone with the backup, etc., but not with the milkbone mod. Am I missing something?
