Puzzled after testpoint & PDS repair
Good evening gents...and ladies
I recently did a testpoint unlock and PDS repair. All went well with the help of this great forum. I just noticed that my BL is now 0A.30 and it was 0A.52 before the unlock. My questions are: How did it get changed and are there any advantages of having one over the other? I have no complaints as the phone is still working great. I would just like to have a better understanding of whats going on. Thanks,

the pds repair wrote the 0a.30 bootloader to it.
0a.30 supports rsa-removal and 0a.52 doesnt

Its nice to have the older not so protected BL , but except unlock, which you have done, and the chance of RSA- removal ( which would allow you to patch, if there were any patches for the v3r, lol.) it gives no advantage or disadvantage. It doesn't make the phone slower or anything else. If you can, keep the lower bootloader just in case that in the future it might come in handy for patches.

you could try this if you want:
New method for RSA-Removal
Success can be verified by changing the bootscreen, but if it starts up after you do the guide, it was successful
Always have a working backup when you mess with firmware
I don't know how similar V3i and V3r f/w is, but if they are similar, I could try porting some V3i patches for you. Specifically the ones to run iTunes

I have already removed RSA. My first attempt at changing the "Hellomoto" splash screen resulted in a brick with critical errors. A stock reflash brought it back to life. BTW, will flashing with a stock backup re-enable RSA? I don't have time to attempt the splash screen change again right now, but I'll update when I do. Thanks,
Jeff

yes, it will reinstate rsa protection. and your critical error was either because you didnt flash cg1, cg3, cg7, cg18 all together, or some of them werent patched for rsaremoval, or because the wrong cg1 offsets got changed.
might be best to do it all at once. take your cg1,3,7,18 backup. then use the new rsaguide removal guide to remove rsa protection. then split your flash. use the samsung imager to change the bootscreen because it is handy for finding unknown offset locations for the splash, then recalc checksum, make new .shx, and flash
