Yes, i got it back by flashing it, and then i traded with the customer because I wanted to hold onto a V3re for further testing.... But now, the display is out, all I get is a steady keypad light, so when I have time, I'll try reflashing it, and at some point I'll have them order me a Smart TestPoint cable, to unlock it, so that I know how to do it....
As of now (1/05/08 5:50pm), the only way to unlock V3re is with SmartClip and Smart TestPoint cable, which also requires that you cut or remove the heat shield.

I registered just to post this message: THANK YOU JHanko!
It took me under 5 minutes to unlock my girlfriend's new V3r using a safety pin and your very clear instructions. She's enjoying messing around with ringtones as I write this.

A big thank you for the thread. i kept getting unlocking and a ang but i reloaded pk2 3.9 and in the end it worked great.
1 question tho the diode resistor or whatever it is on the testpoint wats it for as mine fell off, however i still managed and unlock without it?
thanks again

jeff this is a great work you have done but one thing still not understandable for me and this is test point location, according to your pics it seems like its underneath the matel sheet if this is the case then tell us howto remove the shield easily and safly.
thnks

It's just to the right of the metal shield, just below the battery connector
