Well, here we go!

First, connect your V6 Maxx, and then open P2k Tools VS or P2k Commander. I've used P2k Tools.

Press the "Refresh" Button, and then go to a/mobile/msgdb

Then select all those files in of msgdb folder and Download to your PC.

Well Done!! Your SMS backup is finished.

If you flash your phone, and you want your SMS, just upload your backup to the same folder!

it doesn't work in my v6. I took all messages to PC and then again to phone but it didn't recognize any sms, so my inbox was empty. Why?

I've been doing this for a long time, a I had no problem with that, when you gonna upload your backup, first delete all the files in the msgdb folder.

I saw in p2k commander that the original file has "Owner 03" and the new that I uploaded has 07 - I think that's the problem! but how can I change it? Why should I delete if when I upload them again their Owner will be 03?

Is there a prereq if this restore or copying all files in msgdb can only work in the same S/W version. Currently i managed to upgrade the boot loader to 03.09 and S/W ver is R261171LD_U_99.41.08R

The msgdb restored from previous version 98.30.80R. It gave bricked, only HelloMoto Screen came up..so hv to re-flashed back.
Appreciate for any idea and suggestion.

it ony show one locked message.....but can not open it....

I've just been looking for a way to get texts off my moto at all. I have a Razr v3m. Using p2k Commander, I look through the filesystem and in the Mobile folder do not see msgdb, only a folder called "Skins," Verizon.gif, and Moto.gif. Suggestions?
