    Thanks Matteo,

I had the following firmware on my phone:
R63715_U_71.01.6CR_G; Rogers Canada; Language Pack 0057A

I was scared to flash phone, so I did a Motorola software update and now have
R63715_U_71.02.0BR_C; Rogers Canada; Language Pack 0057A

For anyone who does this, make sure you back your contacts up on your computer first!

Unfortunately, I still have the same issues with Trekbuddy! I'm getting the feeling that Rogers restricted access to things in my phone settings when I bought it, and those settings got transferred and saved to the new version.

I never flashed a phone before and I'm a bit scared! I downloaded Motorola E1000 Flex Editor v10.8 by LeaderGL 2005. I think it's the latest version? Anyway, Tundra or VA76r is not in the model menue. I tried a live updade.

Should I try a different mod software?

    Hi,

The firmware that You have now is the same of mine on my moto tundra,

Are You sure that the problem is rogers and not Your fido Sim ( I do not know it )

For firmware change use RSD Lite ( probably you must install before motorola driver on Your pc, see many help online on RSD Lite )

    Hi again,

I tried installing Trekbuddy with the unregistered Rogers sim card that came with my phone and have the same problem. So I don't think there is a problem with my Fido sim card. I thought I may get some help from Rogers. I called Roger's tech support and they told me to call Fido since I'm with them--even though Rogers owns Fido. I called Fido and they said because it's a Rogers phone, they don't have the tech support sheets to help me. They did say something about the data dir not accessible because I didn't have internet access enabled? Anyways they directed me to Motorola. Motorola told me to call Rogers because it's a Rogers phone and they couldn't help me with my issue since it's branded for Rogers and I'm with Fido. What a run around! I got this phone because I thought I could use GPS with it...

When I get the courage I will try to mod my Tundra with the RSD Lite. But I don't know what I'm doing?

If Anyone else has some suggestions please share!

Thanks for all your help Matteo.

    Hi,

All the world is similar !!!! For Motorola the problem is Rogers for Rogers Fido for Fido Motorola ........

Datadir not accesible is not a no internet connection active ( the good of trekubby is that work offline with Atlas on SD )

Try to see the datadir manual creation in http://wiki.trekbuddy.net/index.php/Installation

See this from wiki page of trkbuddy

    "Known Issues
    [edit] Branded phones
Branding is evil. Some GSM providers modify the firmware of the phones they sell with their plans. In some cases (see below), Thawte root certificate is missing. This prevents TrekBuddy from being installed as a signed application. Constantly having to confirm file system access and similar security messages are the result.

    [edit] List of affected Providers/Phones
    Vodafone Germany: SE K800i, K750i
    Vodafone Spain: Nokia 6234
    Vodafone Netherlands: SE v630i
    Vodafone New Zealand: Nokia 5310
    Movistar Spain: Samsung L760
    Orange Israel: Nokia 6288
    Proximus/Vodafone Belgium: SE K800i and V630i
    Telstra Australia - SE W810i
    Orange Slovakia: SE K800i
    Rogers Canada: SE W810i
    Orange Poland: LG KF750
    Extend me!
    [edit] Possible Solutions
Try to get a firmware update from your local retailer
Get your phone "debranded" / "Unlocked", either in a local cellphone-store, or via the internet
Try to fix the firmware yourself (may be dangerous)
Do an unsigned installation and live with the nag-screens
The first two solutions are preferable, although are not entirely free. Some phones have internal firmware upgrade support, others include software and cables to install upgrades at home. Phone shops often bill a few euros for this service. Debranding services are a few dozen euros. Fixing the firmware yourself is a dangerous (may cause a inoperable phone), very model specific and, depending on local law, illegal procedure.

An unsigned installation can be made by erasing the .JAD-File and selecting the .JAR-File upon installation"

I think You must install new firmware ( You can download it from this forum " )

    Hi Matteo,

I downloaded RSD Lite and successfully flashed phone with the latest Rogers firmware on this forum. Unfortunately, I still have the same problems with Trekbuddy. There must be something in my phone settings causing this. I noticed that under:
    -Settings
    -Security Settings
    -Application Lock:

An "unlock code" window appears where I can enter an unlock code.

Maybe the subsidy unlock code I purchased, which allows me to use Rogers phone with the Fido network didn't unlock all the features of my phone?

As I said before, I don't know what I'm doing. I know a hacker guy and maybe he can help me with my phone issues over the holidays. I don't want EVIL Rogers or Fido to win the battle and prevent me from using my phone to it's full potential.

Thanks again for all your help!

    Poolster.

    Hi,

But when i go to Setting ----Security Setting --------Application Lock -------- I've too Imput my Unlock Code , the problem I Think is not this

With new firmware in Setting Security Java root Certificate are You sure of have Thawte Premium Server CA and if You click on it That it is "Enable" ?

When You install trekkbuddy it install the Unsigned version or the Signed version ? ( The unsigned version give You a message )

If there are too with this new firmware the problem probably is the unlocking passage

    Reply if ok

    Hi Matteo

I have the Thawte Premium Server CA status "enabled."

When I install Trekbuddy it says application is not signed. Do you want to install anyways? Then the Data dir is not accessible. I tried v9.81, v9.82, v9.83....v9.90. All versions says same message when trying to install. I install the .jar since the .jad doesn't work at all. I've been installing the version "standard (Nokia, SonyEricsson, Siemens, ...) .jar" from Trekbuddy.net

    Thanks,

    Poolster

If there are 2 versions of Trekbuddy (Unsigned and signed version) Where do I get the signed version?

    Thanks!

    Thanks Matteo!

I'm very close to getting this thing to work! I downloaded the new 9.91 jar version with same problem. So I made a trekbuddy folder and downloaded both the .jad and the .jar and put it in a trekbuddy folder I created on my SD card.

When I install the .jad file, it recognizes the Thawtee Certificate!

Now when I launch Trekbuddy, a permission screen says:
"TrekBuddy is asking for your permission to read the files or directory. Would you like to grant permission?"

    I select YES.

Then I get the message "'DataDir' not accessible - please fix it and restart."

    What should I do?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Poolster

Great The new version have no problem of certificate

    1) Do not start Trekbuddy

Go to Trekbuddy ( I've it in tools ----Trekbuddy ) and on the left OPTIONS-----Manage ------Application Setting ----Permission ( You must go down Allow Deletion ) Select USER DATA READ to Never Ask and USER DATA WRITE to Never Ask and SMART CARD COMM. to never ask and CONNECTIVITY to Ask once Per Application

    Now return back to trekbuddy

    START TREKBUDDY

No problem with error messages DataDir

Go on the left to OPTIONS-----Settings------Basic -----DataDir :

    Set it to (write) file:///SD/trekbuddy/

    NOW WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For maps use Trekbuddy Atlas Creator and put the map in Trekbuddy/maps on Your SD

Can use gm2tb ( search on google ) for create little maps for the first use

    Trekbuddy WORKS!!! Trekbuddy WORKS!!!

The GPS coordinate displayed is my exact latitude, longitude! It's showing me what room I'm sitting in +/- 2 meters. I will install maps on my phone this weekend!

Thanks Matteo! I never would never have figured this out on my own!

    Poolster,

    I'm very happy for You

Now use Atlas , create Your own Atlas for maps

If You want can imput in Waypoint Custom an address from the web site Mygeoposition.com ( You must use Opera mini and Internet ) and You have the function Search that work with Trekbuddy

    Matteo

    Poolster

Now if use TB you can see one problem

After 30 sec max the display go off also if control the backlight ON with the push of 3. This is because the phone setting Display TIMEOUT can set max to 30 sec ,also if you have charger attached.

I can stay with display on every time only if attach to mini usb an motorola mini usb to 2.5 mm adaptator and an accessories , i've a remote speakerphone

Now i can try to buy a remote speakerphone similar to that work with IDEN phone but on net i cannot see a remote speakerphone with direct mini usb connettor

I loaded some maps and my friends are very impressed with Trekbudy on my phone! I will check out the mygeopositions. Thanks!

I know it's annoying that the back light turns off after 30 seconds. For the USB speaker phone, do you mean a 2-way talk speakerphone or just a USB audio playback speaker? I found a usb audio playback speaker here:

    Flashing Motorola Tundra

I'm very curious about your experience in flashing the Tundra using the link to the Rogers Software update. I bought an unlocked Tundra from an internet vendor but it is heavily branded AT&T. None of the Internet Settings are available and it uses a third party Email client called Mobile Email. This client doesn't interface well with other apps in the firmware such as the Address Book.

Does the Rogers firmware have a lot of branding? For example, are there settings you can't get to? I am looking for something as close to the original Motorola firmware as possible.

I have read all your trials in getting the GPS to work with other software. That is not as critical to me. It's a nice to have but it looks like you had a lot of trouble setting it up.

What is your opinion of the Rogers Firmware Update? I am unlocked now with the AT&T firmware and I wouldn't want the phone to get locked again, especially to Rogers since I am in the USA.

I did use the info on the site here to flash a Razr V3re so I am not timid about it if I have to go that route. Are there advantages to using the modding versus just installing the Rogers Update?
