Official RIZR Z3 Firmware Patch Thread

Ok guys, I just wanted to get this up so that we can have a place to talk about patches, their functions, porting them, whatever. Right now it is kind of a rough draft but I will be updating as the thread needs it. So lets get started with two quick notes:


1. MAKE SURE YOU MATCH THE PATCHES TO YOUR S/W VERSION

2. THESE PATCHES ARE ONLY FOR RSA REMOVED PHONES, SEE BOTTOM OF THIS POST FOR HOW TO REMOVE RSA AND HOW TO APPLY PATCHES


Access photo from video camera (adds Photo option in video camera options menu, takes to photos when chosen)
Access system files (access system files from java)
Access to Kjava via OBEX (for transferring games via bluetooth)
Access to Launch of Functions from Corelet (allows a corelet to launch functions)
Access to RAM from Corelet (allows corelet to access system memory)
Admission files by BT (Allows any file to be received via BT, saved in videos folder)

Alarm Enable/Disable on Green Button (turn alarm on and off with green key)
Alarm in Status Bar (shows icon in status bar when alarms are active)
Alarm name and time (Shows alarm name and time in alarm menu)
All values allowed in seems (allows all values written to seems 004a & 004e) WILL CAUSE TEXT MARQUEE TO STOP WORKING
Attenaution2 (backlight fade)
Bluetooth 15 min (allows BT to be set to 15 minutes discoverable time)
Cancel java Certs (allows running of java without certs)
Change Snooze Time in Alarm (004A offset 9A is to set the minutes and 9B is to set how many times you want it to ring normaly before you have to manually turn it off. I set mine to 9a = 05 /5 minutes and 9b = 50 /it will go off 50 times before it automatically shuts off.)
Change+add_symobls order (rearranges the @#$% symbols in texting)

Channel will be a green button (?????)
Clear Sounds When Changing Volume (clears the default sounds when changing volume)
Clock in Status Bar (shows a digital clock in the status bar AKA debug on 114)
Corelets in Java List (shows corelets in the java list)
Debug on 118 (for proper function of clock in status bar)
Delete Lock Operator Start S/W (allows running of don't crypto patch for modded pds)
Dictaphone (removes beeps from voice recorder)
Discharge Tone (allows changing of low batt tone through seem 004a offset 98)
Display Activity (changes display timeout options to 'off', '20 sec', '40 sec', '1 minute' and '2 minutes')
Don't Crypto PDS (for modded pds version) AUTOPATCHER
Draw Field (Increases size of font in list menus) R452B 0DR
Dualboot 1.01 Z3 (allows for running of dualboot)
ElfpackZ3 (required for elfs)
from 8 to 9 (The soft sign is transferred from the button 8 to button 9, it works only at Tap) [Also see Here]
Georeferencing Sort Multimedia (Bind sort: multimedia files sorted by however java is sorted Name = Name, size=date)
Green background in netmonitor (allows green button to set active websession??????)
HeapJava2000 (upgrades java heap from 1000kb to 2000kb)
Heap Patches 3 versions available only for R452B 0DR:

------Increase elf heap to 6x128kb (=768kb?) (Bigheap_Z3)
------Increase Java heap to 4500kb, elf heap to 5x160 and corelet heap remains unchanged.
------Increase Java heap to 5100kb, elf heap will no longer function.

House Indicator (shows house icon next to operator when plugged in to usb, charger or headphones)
Icon Incoming Call in Status Bar (replaces ringstyle icon with call icon until missed calls are checked)
ID--b/mobile/audio/rings (ringtones are only read through phone (c/mobile/audio) and through b/mobile/audio/rings. In sounds menu, you can still apply any mp3 as ringtone, but in ring style details, it limits you to whats in phone and that folder. This severely shortens the list for changing ringtones through ring style.)
iTunes in Menu (allows calling of corelets from itunes menu option)
Java Black Screen (black screen while java loads instead of white)
Java FS Access (allows for full system access from java)
Java SMS (Java turns at the parish sms?????) I believe this resumes java when incoming sms message prompt dissapears, but I'm not sure - R452B 0DR
Java Works with USB (java continues to run when plugged into usb)
Keypad Backlight 104 (allows manual control of the keypad backlight)
Low Batt Tone x5 (With this patch applied, the frequency of the reminder tone for low battery is decreased by 5 times)
Menu+* (access menu anywhere using menu [middle soft key] + *)
metka_new_menu_melody (changes options menu in sounds/videos options menu)
metka_new_menu_pict (rearranges options menu in pictures options menu)
miniblock2 ( used with Time&date instead of keypad locked patch > ONLY USE IF TIME & DATE IS PORTED, WHICH IT IS NOT AS OF YET)
missed call mp3 (plays mp3 as reminder of missed call, rather than the tone beep)
MMA in Skin (place mma_ucp of mma dependant skins in that skins folder)
New Date Format (adds day of week to 31-Dec-99)
New Files Names Format (changes saving of file names to YYYY_MM_DD for computer sorting)
New number format (Changes number format:12-34,12-34-56,123-45-67,123-456-78-90,1-234-567-89-01, +7-123-456-78-9034)
Next Play (automatically plays next song in list in multimedia)
No Delete Recent Calls on Sim Replace (does not delete recent calls when sim card is replaced)
No sound cam for silent style (No Camera sound when ring style is silent)
Oversize Digital Font (makes the digital clock font larger)

Remove Second Icon in Java List (removes the second icon from the java list, drm icon is coverd by skin icon, this patch removes the skin icon)
Remove unnecessary folders from memory card - Autopatcher - Tested and working on H6. (keeps only necessary folders on memory card to clear space.) - BETA
Remove Unnecessary Folders from phone (removes folders not needed from phone)
Replace Exit with Edit in Phonebook (still shows exit, but will take you to edit)
Replace_tap_iTap (Switch from Tap to iTap (vice-versa) by pressing browser key [works everywhere except in sms. In sms switches only with iTap on Tap)]
sec_prot_ver_locked autopatcher (used for modded pds)

Send Java over BT (highlight the java app you wish to send over BT then hit green key to send.) HERE

Speed Corelet (helps virtual corelet run faster)
Speed Z3 (speeds up the phone operation)

SW_Version (Used to add author name in Settings>Phone Status>Other info>S/W version, convert second patch code, hex to text, to see what I mean)
Temporary Unblocking Softkeys w/ Call (unlocks softkeys on incoming call)
Temporary Unblocking Softkeys w/ Text (unlocks softkeys on incoming text)
The tone keypad when entering text was not displayed in (?????)
USB Animation (allows you turn usb charging animation on or off without a seem edit)
USB Charging (allows you to turn usb charging on and off without a seem edit)
Vibro in Kjava (allows for selecting of vibrate style in java. currently set to 'short' [requires seem edit to change])
Vibro-Connect w/ Bluetooth (allows for selecting vibe style for bluetooth connect. currently set to 'none'. [requires seem edit to change])
Video Resolution (set default video recording to large res)
Visible Passwords (shows passwords instead of *****)
VST in a/mobile (allows for the VST to be placed in a/mobile/vst)
Zoom Z3 (replaces 50% and 75% zoom in pics to 200% and 250%)

I say we make this the only patching thread so that the Z3 section is organized.

So if you can, separate them by firmware and do individual links. Also mention if they're new (ie, if you just ported it.)

@welwel -- In very few of the descriptions for 2B, they say R452D because they were ported from l7 but the descriptions were never updated. But that patch works for R452B 0DR.


@Dan -- Like a true goof, I forgot you wanted to go link by link rather than all in one link. From now on, I will keep attachments separated. Sorry.

Also, I have ported several patches just by using hex address and I will list ones that don't work so that no others waste time doing this. I believe the only way to port these are with binedit and/or ida. I am barely learning about this and I think its going to take me a while to learn.

Anyway, my list of patches that don't work through simple porting:

--Full screen selection and submenu - causes restart when testing
--Quick access to photos from a video-camera - causes restart when testing
--Replace tap itap - causes restart when testing
--MP3 missed call - causes restart when testing
--BigElfZ3 - continuous restarting
--Send Java over BT - causes restart when testing


I was able to port this one to H6:

Now this is interesting. Is this a CG1 patch or a CG4 patch? I thought iTap was in CG4? This is a cool patch

CG1...This is for either tap or itap, as it just rearrange the order in which it is displayed on your phone

This is the translated description I found from the author:

"the Soft sign is transferred with 8 on 9 for convenience. Works both in Tap, and in iTap. On other models of phones it there also is (on 9). It is convenient, since at great volume of the text to "Ü" long to reach (5 pressing of a key 8), and it is used often."

It sounds like its used for non-English languages that need to type "Ü". Just instead of pressing the number 8 key 5 times, its transferred to the number 9 key. I don't know how it works at 9 key when it is applied, as I've only used English on my phone.
