    I know this is an old thread but I have just found it. I have just purchased a new unlocked Z3 but experienced the same problem as the op. Since I have found this thread, I have flashed my Z3 with thelaxplaya7's MP. This seems to stop my Z3 to send sms to *453 upon power on but it is now sending random sms upon power on. Anyone has any insight. Thanks.

    I finally gave up on my unlocked Z3 and threw it out. Not worth the trouble. Got an unlocked ATT LG and problem solved.
