When I receive my new RIZR Z3 later this week, should I first install the Mobile Phone Tools software that comes with the phone (which I understand to be the basic vehicle for phone to PC communications) or should I install the new drivers from the Motodev site? Or, should I install the phone tools software and then install the new Motodev drivers on top of the phone tools installation? I'm trying to avoid cluttering up the system with mismatched or outdated drivers.
Presumably, if the phone communicates with the PC at this point, everything should be go for later installation of any tools I will be needing for MODDING - is that correct?
If the answer is to install the motodev drivers only, is there anything I need to know before doing so; ie, is it assumed that I'm already an expert if I'm installing those drivers or does the installation put them where they are supposed to go, set registry values, etc such that the phone will be recognized when I plug it into the PC.
Also, don't assume that the MPT you get with your phone will be the most current. There is an option to check for automatic updating and you will want to do this. Even after doing this some features may not work (at least I haven't figured them out). I don't think Motorola has added a patch for the RIZR yet. Mine doesn't regocnize the phone as a RIZR, but I can still backup contacts, ringtones, pictures, etc...
