V3XX Network Tower Problem

Bought a new v3xx that was unlocked (not from a dealer so taking back is not an option). It is branded ATT Singular. Works fine with my Cellular One sim card, around here. Whenever I travel outside my service area,(Cellular One), signal is gone, no roaming, no anything. I haven't had this problem in the past when switching sim card from phone to phone.

Have tried reading through other posts and tried changing network menu options, but there aren't any. I'm trying : Main menu > Settings > Network >, but in there I only have two options, " Service tone & Call drop tone". Should there be other options there? How can I open these options up to search for other towers?

Any help appreciated. Thanks. Also, I live in southern Ky if relevant.

ok, my phone has new network, network setup and available networks in the network menu.

please list your bootloader and software version and i might be able to tell you an MP to flash to get these settings on your phone

my area is Arkansas.....T-mobile (Weak) and ATT (Strong), do other people with Cell One have this same prob??

Where do I find bootloader or software version? Never moded or flashed so pretty new to this.
No one else is having problems that I know of. We also have a Sony Ericsson Z710i unlocked with a cell one sim. No problems.

press * , # , red then your screen should display b/l and s/w

When I push *, #, nothing happens. Push *, #, and then the red button, it clears the screen.

I have found, flex version, technology, s/w version, DSP s/w version, and operator (which says cingular). Would any of these help?

yea, i forgot to tell you to turn fone off, then press *,#,red...

anyway, list your s/w ver. so we can determine if your fone can be modded.

i'm thinking you might have a tri-band v3xx...

The phone flashes 3G across the screen whenever you power it off or on. But i've never seen it connect 3G. Always Edge. Whenever I go to a town that supports 3G, no service.

well, sounds like it should have quad-band, so do your homework on flashing a monsterpack outta the download section and what you could do is flash your phone and get the other options in the network menu.

i have successfully flashed the black widow MP for someone and had the MLD s/w but don't remember the exact s/w ver and b/l.

the latest ver. of p2k tools and commander have seem editing functions that you could get the network menu options back.

keep lookin in this forum and read up on all the guides, make a full back-up of your fone and i think you will be able to enable your options in the network menu and enable your 850/1900 band.

better yet, find out what bands cellular one uses.

I had an mld before i got my v3xxr, i actually still have it, i just gave it to my mom...

And yes, the blackwidow MP was the best pack, total godsend that i could find.

You also might wanna ask someone a little more familiar with radiocomm if they can help you figure out if some of your bands are disabled. It sounds like you're only working on certain bands when v3xx's are usually triband, and CAN be quadband via some radiocomm work.

To get rid of that hideous att / cingular branding though, i reccomend blackwidow all the way, i even ported some of it over to v3xxr because i missed it so much :/

Thanks for the advice on black widow. I downloaded it to my computer, unzipped it, but can't get it to the v3xx. Can't even get my computer to open the file after unzipping. I've downloaded & installed Motorolla Driver MSI Installation Version 3.5.0 Running windows XP. Phone set to usb, data, computer recognizes it as modem. Also downloaded P2K man to computer, but it doesn't recognize phone either. I even downloaded UID extraction tool 2.2 because I thought I read somewhere that I needed it. It does recognize my phone, but I'm not sure it's what I need,(or what it even does for that matter).
Question is, how do I get blackwidow or other program to my phone. Thanks.

look in the threads at the top of this forum and you will find guides on flashing your phone.

i use flash and backup 3, full version (paid), the trial version in the download section will not back-up all your CG's,

another program to flash with is rsd lite.

make sure you download the drivers in the download section and re-install them first.

do some reading up and be careful.

if you are using motorola phone tools, it may be conflicting with the other drivers.
