Wine and RSD Lite and P2K Commander and other modding software.

I hope you guys know what Wine is :dancingbanana:. If you don't, here is a linkie: http://www.winehq.com/

Now, some programs work with it but some don't. I have managed to run P2K Commander with it, but didn't get time to try and upload any files with it. But at least it ran. And the auto start worked. So, I was wondering if anyone had tested other modding software? I wouldn't recommend trying RSD Lite and other flashing software with it as it properly will bork your phone, but your choice if you want to. just asking if anyone has.

I might be wrong but, I guess none of the windows based modding software would work using wine which need direct access to usb as Linux won't allow.

However, we still have some limited options with Linux. I have used Moto4lin and I can edit seems, add/remove skins, add/remove files in a,b and c.

Here'are links to 2 programs which allow to flash Motorola phones. They didn't work for my V3i so I am not sure if they will work for you.

I am also looking for a Linux based software which I can use to backup and flash my V3i. No luck yet.

The flasher worked for my v360. I tried to get MotoMidMan and SkiMan to work but they don't.

I just installed the drivers from the motorola phone tools CD and ran RSD Lite but dont have a working phone to test it.. lol... oh.. this one in gentoo

i posible to give a normal user more power over the usbfs
for xample, to b able to atach usb devices to virtualbox, you need to make this same change.
depends on your distro.
but i wouldnt recomed using wine, use vbox to install an XP inside and use that .

I can run various apps in wine. P2K menu editor works but creates artifacts. Flash and Backup works but can't see the phone. Perhaps messing with wine inf's and wine system config could get it to run. Jeremy Laine's flash-tool splits an shx file but also croaks on finding the phone. Since it is supposed to be cross platform, small wonder. Flasher almost works. It sees /dev/ttyACM0 and writes the first of the *.bin files it makes out of the shx file but then the phone emits an error and flasher exits gracefully as if it did its job. Any advice? Seems like if flasher had more guidance it could do it? Phone is p2k Rizr Z3.
