Android browsers suck! Please help :(
I just received my Atrix in the mail and have been playing with it all day. The phone is very fast and snappy, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. The only thing I can't stand is how the browers are laggy. I downloaded an app off the marketplace that kills all apps and shows avaialble ram, so I am starting the browsers with over 400 mb of ram available and they still lag!
I have the stock Android browser, opera, and dolphin. They are all very similar with dolphin being the fastest. I have been doing side by side comparisons with my iPhone 4 and safari is considerably faster than on the Atrix. If I touch down on the screen on any webpage and move it in circles, it is very jittery wheras the iPhone is not. Being that we have to zoom in and out a lot and move the web pages around because its a mobile device, this is very bothersome. I am just looking for a broswer thats as fluid as Safari.
I am wondering if its maybe moto blur and if I root and remove blur it may get better. What do you think?
A few side notes:
The build quality on the Atrix isn't what I hoped for
Its nowhere near the iPhone and not as good as the inspire either.
I do like the widgets and Facebook app for Android better.
I also like the whole notification system of Android as well.
The screen on the Atrix isn't near as good as the iPhone. Especially with color saturation and off-angle viewing. This coupled with the browser problem I am having may make me return the device. Which is sad because I was really looking forward to webtop.
On that note, are there any other devices out there that have a functional webtop and maybe a docking tray like the Atrix?

Unrooting may help by OC you processor. Man give it a while.. once HUGE OC kernels come available you will say I don't like the Iphone, as for the screen you are comparing one of the fastest phone in the world (Atrix) vs. The best screen in the world (Iphone). Differences between Android and Iphone?
Android is more OPEN-SOURCE, you do what ever you want. IPhone is not so OPEN in what you can do. If you go with Iphone then fine, stay with the 23,000,000 people who use the same phone, or go with android which you can use it to impress people and challenge the IPHONE. Androids are better than IPHONES and they will always be. Thank you, good day.

Would you say the Atrix is the best GSM Android phone on the market currently? If so, do you know of another one soon to be released that will blow it away?

We could say yes, but since it has motoblur as stock it "makes the phone less productive" . Other phones well it just depends on what you want. You want speed? Well atrix. Screen? Evo or Nexus S or SGS. Network speed? MT4G or G2.
Based on what I know about phones I would pick G2, Atrix, Nexus One, Nexus S, SGS.

I said android browser because i was under the impression that the "browser" app would be what you would find in any android device. I didn't realize it was a moto blur specific app. For the record my buddy has an OC inspire with htc sense andhis browser felt just as laggy compared to safari.
Also my same friend says you can't install a kernel on Atrix becase it has an encrypted bootloader.

The title of this topic did not tell me that you wanted browser speed. I do not know which browser operates fastest. It is not my current interest. I am interested in overall "experience".
Of the browsers that I have used a lot, (really just the stock browser, Opera Mini, Firefox Beta and Maxthon) I have found that I prefer Maxthon because it comes closest to the functionality that I prefer. It is the only browser that I have used that opens local HTML files (on the SD-Card) and save HTML files. It also has controls for routing (IE choosing whether to work through WiFi or your phone's broadband data connection or the "Mobile" channel).
The only major missing feature is Flash support (none at all). AFAIK only the Android built in browser and Dolphin browsers have any kind of Flash support, and the Dolphin is only partial support.
-- Corrections:
I paid more attention to the browsers after I posted the above and some of what I said about the Maxthon was incorrect. What I do is a bit convoluted. I am using the Maxthon browser to render MotoBlur. The file save/open capabilities, from what I see now, are actually in MotoBlur. I *do* use Maxthon to render local HTML files, but through the "Blackmoon File Browser". Maxthon was the first Browser to be able to do this, and probably is still the only browser able to do this. Normally a file browser displays an HTML file through "HTMLview" which a stub program designed to be called by other programs.
The only other display program that can save an HTML file to your local storage was one of the "News" programs. I do not have an Android device handy right now, so I cannot say which one.
If had been an intelligent discussion, it might have been interesting. Pity.Last edited by Mobile01; 06-04-2011 at 01:23 PM.
