Nandroid Backup/Restore Question
I am new to android phones, can I load/install nandroid backup/restore to any android phones or just a specified phone ?

From the same model of phone only.
E.g. if somebody made backup on HTC Evo you can restore his backup on HTC Evo.

When you will install recovery you will see how easy is it.
Just go to recovery mode and there is option Backup/Restore.
If your recovery will clockworkmod then backups should be plaaced in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/banckup_name_or_date/*.img (Usually 4 flies: boot.img, recovery.img, data.img, system.img. If you will use app2sd backup will inclide sd-ext.img)Z.d.u.n.e.X's Stuff: Personal Site | My skins | Android Stuff's

My phone is XT711, China version of XT720. Do I load/install any Recovery or any Nandroid in order to backup/restore my system ?

No.
You're able to use XT720 backups only.

You also need the recovery that is made for your device
