This only works if you applied the OTA update or the full update.zip from Moto's site. If you flashed using the 1.3.18 SBF file then this will NOT work. We now need a new exploit.


This is an SHX I created for people wanting to root AFTER an update to 1.3.8 or above. This has kb7sqi's kernel and Amon_RA's recovery v1.5.2.1. This is the same method as TheDude's just updated for the recent radio. This just gives you the ability to flash a rooted custom rom. You can still use TheDude's shx but your Nandroid timestamps will be off due to the new radio. This is why I posted this little updated file.

Yes you are correct. This gives remote root. You can do adb remounts. You can get local root after flashing this by pushing su binary to /system/bin and Superuser.apk to /system/app. Or an even simpler mothed would be to just flash a custom that already has the binaries and tether, etc.

So let me ask the noob question, which i know will be start of many! LOL! I have firmware "1.1.31 (rooted)" could i use this firmware to simply update my phone to the latest firmware?

P.S: I understand there is no going back to "1.1.31" but why would you want too when this is the latest update from moto.

if you are already rooted you need to 1st flash kb7sqi's 1.3.8.1 rom because that contains the radio update. then flash his 1.3.18 rom and you will be up to date.

I have the same problem with with installing the themes it will just hang on the Motorola logo screen. I am using kb7sqi-cliq-V1.3.18 rom. it work good just miss my black and white theme.

you may need to just uninstall metamorph and reinstall it if you didn't wipe. i am running themed just fine
