Even with 2.1 coming soon we'd wanna get this done, gives the community variety to choose from. Even though the HTC community has 2.1 available they still use 1.6 and 2.0, it's all about choices.

I have seen more people use stable builds which is 1.6 roms, or 1.5 roms. From what I understand G1/MyTouch doesn't have the hardware for 2.X due to memory. This give me more reason to believe it's not really a choice. We have twice the memory onboard than the G1/MyTouch. If they wanted 2.X on their device they'd have to use the sdcard. I am willing to bet more people would use 2.X on those devices IF they could run 2.X natively.

Keep in mind this is just my speculation based on what I have seen and talk to locally. Some would rather K.I.S.S. and not bother with extra software just to make something work.

The mytouch I had had 290 mb free before any apps were installed it was pretty good why wouldn't it have enough memory for 2.x?

The Mytouch has the same amount of ROM storage. It just doesn't have the RAM we have.

The new MyTouch 3.5mm's have 288mb of ram to our 256...just FYI.

And its kinda pointless bc its a mix between a 34a and b board. They have root for it and a stock 1.6 but that's it. No hero, no nothing.

No it's not pointless.

The 32a is the HTC Magic. The 32b is the MyTouch. Difference is mainly the memory.

Personally, I like seeing that devs are working on all versions of Android even with new stuff in the near future. Its keeps them on top of the technology by getting them more familiar with the Cliq hardware. It keeps their skills in use. So by the time 2.1 comes out, they will know EVERYTHING about the Cliq and it should speed the process of a rooted 2.1. Because sure, it will be released for the Cliq, but how long before a rooted version safe for our phones is released? So, have at 1.6 It will just prep everyone for 2.1 or what ever and make root/radio/etc safer with less risk for us.
