I am starting to hate MotoBlur. It's awesome, but only when it works and updates the events. Would be nice to be able to switch between MotoBlur or not in 2.X roms.

well probably see tht cause 1 guy de blured HE 1.5 he might do it with 2.X but i wanna no y we dont have 2.X now y they didnt just make roms without motoblur

i have seen held and used the mytouch slide. Comparing it to the cliq is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I loved the cliq when I used it but got annoyed by lack of support for the phone and tired of the lack of OS updates that all other phones are receiving, including the droid which is also made by motorola.

The mytouch slide is a nicely built HTC phone and honestly before calling it crap lets look at the details...

Cliq - 528MHz
Slide - 700MHz

Cliq - 256mb RAM
Slide - 512mb RAM

Cliq - No Camera Flash
Slide - Camera Flash

Cliq - Abstract information from manufacturer about development of the phone.
Slide - Great phone support and up to date news on development

Motorola - tries to lock down devices to a ridiculous extent
HTC - allows a much easier manner for modding your phone and as a member of the "modmymoto" forum that is obviously something of importance.

To be honest I use neither of these phones, I am also an N1 user. I come to this forum to see new developments on the cliq cause I really do like the phone I just wish it wouldn't have been held below it's potential. I am a rep and a couple of the reps here use XTs or the Cliq itself and all are quite angry with their choices to leave the mytouch for the cliq due to lack of accessibility that they had before to the android experience. The form factor of the cliq is excellent and it is one of the best hard keyboards I have gotten to use (used phone for 4 months before getting fed up with losing half my features that I had in 1.6 on my mytouch)

One of our reps that had his cliq replaced with the mytouch slide is so so happy with the change to the MT slide and after playing with it I don't blame him, it's blazing fast compared to the cliq.

Saying that, right now the slide is better overall BUT if/when the cliq gets the 2.1 with blur it will be an even fight performance (slide) vs. features (cliq). Honestly, in the end of it all it will be personal preference once the cliq hits 2.1 its an even toss up based on each individuals needs.

I just wanted to clarify the mytouch slide is a not a piece of junk it is actually a fairly nice phone. Both phones are fairly nice phones, moto just needs to treat their blur phone users as good as they do their moto droid users. What I find laughable is that moto creates this whole motoblur system...which turns out to be awesome....which also turns out to be the biggest crutch on any android phone from any manufacturer. If motoblur is so hard to integrate into the android OS then maybe the development team should split up 80% development for motoblur phones and 20% for the droid.. I'm sure if that were done, then both blur and blurless phones would receive faster updates instead of picking a favorite phone out of your lineup and aggravating those who don't have it.

i believe it boils down to the $ verizon is probably dishing it out to moto to keep the updates comin

I wouldn't talk dirt about the Mytouch Slide. The phone is FAST and the Espresso UI is simply pimpin. I have used it over the past couple weeks now and can't wait til it is released. It's definitely a Cliq-killer!

I definitely agree with you on that, but I think it is going to be TMO's entry level android 2.1 phone as it is much easier to operate for a novice to the android OS. Verizon and Sprint both shot down the N1 in stores and I don't believe ATT will put it side by side with the iphone so TMO is the probable landing spot for buying in the store (I'm hoping).. not to mention rumors of the HTC made sidekick and the galaxy S as well running 1Ghz processors with 16gb internal harddrive later on. If those rumors come true then I can definitely see why they were a bit conservative in upgrading hardware to the mytouch slide as it is going to appeal to a different crowd getting that is just getting into android.

It is really nice but I wouldn't go as far as a "cliq killer" motoblur is nice as far as networking goes, the widget is awesome (so is friendstream but still think moto's widget is better) and I do like the keyboard more on the cliq so when it gets 2.1 we will see. I think they will just cater to different people.

Essentially the .apk is encrypted on the SD card, the key stored in the device's memory.
