Android 2.2?

Looks like there is talk about Android 2.2 coming out soon. It will bring two advantages. The first that it is more modular to upgrade.

The second is more interesting: Ability to install apps on SD cards.

My question is, will the apps going on SD cards be non-DRM apps, or will there be some nasty encryption system dropped in to protect DRM apps on SD cards?

Lol the cliq aint getting 2.2 sad... yall still on 1.5... I was tired of that phone... I sold that crap got me a nexus playing on 2.1. I would advise most of you to do the same. All your getting is the same garbage roms passed around with different names and numbers nothing new nothing that increases performance just garbage files to flash to your phone.

I thought by now someone would have made maybe a break through to 2.1 for the cliq aint nothing, not Motorola updates nada... Motorola knows and they post wack messages on Facebook....but can't respond to questions about a phone you paid damn near 200-400 depending on some.

That is true, Froyo sculpture is already posted in front of googleplex which mean that google is planing to release 2.2 EXTREMELY soon. but i dont think the cliq will be getting 2.2 anytime soon, seeing the fact that it took them almost 8 months to get from 1.5 to 2.1 and i think there is a bigger jump from 2.1 to 2.2 because of flash integration, multi-touch, and the apps to sd feature....

And you guys are forgetting the biggest feature of all: JIT.

JIT will make this phone fly.

I'm just hoping that when we get 2.1, we can port custom roms to the CLIQ, even 2.2 roms. Cyanogen and such.

And Mafian, there's no need to post crap like that. If you don't like Moto, there's no need to trash it in a Moto forum.

Ya 2.2 proved to be 4 times faster on nexus one in test run.

I'm not getting a Nexus one.

1) The cliq was $350, whereas the Nexus One is a whopping $530.
2) The Nexus One does not have a keyboard. I think most people who bought the cliq bought it because they wanted a keyboard. Plus, motoblur is nice.

Motorola said 2.1 is coming this summer. I doubt the Cliq will see 2.2 simply because it's nearing the end of it's life cycle, there's bigger and better phones out there and why should they waste time for a phone that wasn't even that big of a hit.
Personally I can't wait for the MyTouch Slide and dump this Cliq.

from wat i understand is tht we have to wait for motorola to release all source codes for updates because of motoblur is built into the kernel unless the make roms without motoblur if thts the case then y dont we have 2.X roms without motoblur

I am starting to hate MotoBlur. It's awesome, but only when it works and updates the events. Would be nice to be able to switch between MotoBlur or not in 2.X roms.
