Recovery Customization Engine version 2.0 - Color,Background,ProgressBar Mod
Hey,
Versions supported for colormod :
MAGIC/HERO/DREAM - 1.6.2 (Waiting for 1.7 sources
)
Nexus - 1.7
cliq - 1.6.2
Desire - 1.6.2
Versions supported for noncolormod :
All recoveries, even koush's except you wont see the difference cuz he never calls on the png's
Thanks to amon_ra for his recovery and thanks to all those he thanked
Script is based on the dev kitchen by dsixda. I removed everything that was not needed for this task.
Requirements : Device drivers properly installed
Windows Operating System
Instructions :
1. Download the 7z file and extract.
2. You will get 3 folders and 2 batch files.
3. Run either batch.
INFO:
Noncolormod just allows you to change background image and progressbar
Colormod batch does what the noncolormod does + allows you to customize the colors inside the recovery
Guys 2 tips :
1. If image is layered please flatten it in photoshop or edit in paint.
2. Use this tool to configure a range of colors. Just grab the decimal values and feed in the script.
FYI: This will not work with Koush's recovery as he ignores the background png
PS : Donot ask for assitance from amonra if you are using the repackaged recovery image produced by this script. He WILL ignore u
PS : I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. I EXPECT A DECENT LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING/TECHNICAL ABILITIES FROM THOSE WHO ARE USING THIS SCRIPT.
----------------------------------------------------------------

*Updatescript color customizable

*A LOT MORE STABLE
*Thanks to amonra no more trackball issues should occur on Hero
----------------------------------------------------------------
Future Updates Expected:
Will try to see what else i can make user-optional

Preview :
Heres the background for those who asked:
K so for colormod only amonra's recovery 1.6.2 is supported. As for noncolor mod any recovery image is supported. Let me know how this goes.Last edited by daneshm90; 05-23-2010 at 08:57 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Im guessing ur referring to the progressbar height ? if so well heres an example :
G1's resolution is 320x480. So if i want the progressbar in the middle of the screen id put 240. It goes from 0-480 from top to bottom.

Background must be a png and be ur device's resolution or smaller. Do not rename a different format image to png, it wont work. Must be opened in editor and saved as png. Make sure its not 8bit.

Just run the script and select How to. Its pretty self explanatory
- 06-17-2010, 11:51 AM #11
I dont knwo how that is supposed to help me. "how-to" was the first thing i looked at. its still just a little unclear to me. i understand that i have to put "recovery.img" in recovery/old, but the "how-to" says to put the .png files in a folder called "place-picture-here" or something like that, but i cannot locate that folder when i check in /other. if someone could tell me where to locate that folder, and then what options to choose once i have everything in place, that would be great!
i realize that this may be simple to many, but this is my first time working through a script and doing something like this, so it doesnt come as natural to me as it may to others. so please understand that telling me its self-explanatory doesn't help me, all it does is rub in my face that its easy for you but not for me. if you could please just take 3 minutes of your time to type out a short step-by-step it would be greatly appreciated. have patience with a script-noob. thank you in advance!Last edited by TopShelf10; 06-17-2010 at 12:10 PM. Ok here we go :
1. Place old unmodded recovery in recovery\old folder
2. Place 2 images, boot.png and boot1.png in the folder place-image-here (it should be in the same directory as the recovery folder (if that folder doesnt exist, create it)
3. Run the script
4. Choose other
5. Itll pause in middle askin u to check progressbar folder incase u wanna change those, its optional really.
6. Continue by pressing enter
7. once done with ur phone in fastboot mode select option 4 to boot into recovery, once satisfied with recovery go back in fastboot and select 3 to flash the recovery.
Done

Thank you, i really appreciate it (i think where i went wrong is the lack of place-picture-here folder), i will try this when i get home....however, you said "once youre done with your phone is fastboot mode..." i didnt realize my phone was physically involved in this process. i thought that this engine just edits the image and then you flash the .img on the phone trhough adb when youre done just like always. what am i supposed to do with my phone?

Nope ur correct, it does just edit the image. u cud just flash it like u do regular recoveries using flash_image, the one in the script however is using fastboot to flash the recovery image. Whatever ur comfortable with, if ur use to flash_image then do that, ull find the edited .img inside recovery/new folder.

sounds good, and youre right, it sounds like something that once you do it after the first time its like riding a bike, but thank you for your explanations....hopefully i can cook up something people will like!
