Basic Rom Modding

I've got my DEXT recently and decided to flash Handler 1.5 ROM. After some help I managed to do it with success =D.
Although, I'm Brazilian, and I'm used to the BR number format, which is ####-#### and not ###-###-####, like in US.
I might be wrong, but I think, if I manage to mod this ROM, I'll be able to change this mask, am I right ?

You won't change the number. That comes from the SIM card.

Just noticed someone replyed this lol...
So idea is not to change the number, it's to change the number mask...
As you type, '-' is added...the number format from US is different from Brazil and I know this is something from the ROM since my stock had this BR Mask.
