problems flashing ROMs

So the last two ROMs I've tried to flash (OpenEclair, PureHandler) failed. I attempt to flash and the installation is immediately aborted and it says that the .zip is "bad", which clearly is not the case since everyone else is flashing up a storm. I'm wondering why this may be happening.
The ROM I flashed before these was KB7, which I downloaded on my work PC, and the download took a couple minutes. I decided to download these two recent ROMs through my phone because I don't want IT all over my d**k. When downloading from my phone the downloads were almost instantaneous, which seems fishy. Would downloading the .zips from my phone cause this?

DL directly from the phone does not work all the time. I used Astro File Manager and set the setting to DL Any Type Of File. Also I always have to DL it 2 times and usually the second one works. When it prompts you to the DownLoading screen it will name the file. Keep the first failed DL on there then start the second one. It will put a -1 extension to the file but it should work. And compare file sizes from the hosting website and when it completes dl'ing to your phone.

check your downloaded rom size, it should be more than 60mb in any case and instantaneous means it never downloaded anything after all how fast could u be downloading on your phone, anyhow as mentioned try downloading again

Yah I knew immediately when it downloaded that fast that it was the only possible explanation...ill try downloading each twice and go from there

Downloading directly to the phone is very cumbersome and often leads to incomplete or corrupt downloads.

Just use your computer to download the files (the ROM .Zip's) then transfer them to your memory card.

As stated before I do not want to download from my work comp. Theres no harm in trying from my phone in the meantime, if its corrupt, oh well ill wait till I get home

@Dubs yah the ext-1 is taking a lifetime to DL so you were right. I'm pumped to try an HE rom with the updated radio, this issue caught me off-guard because I usuall do DL through the PC but for some reason I though I recalled DLing through my cliq at one point or another. Anyway, flashing away.

If you download from a computer, try better to download using Firefox. Other browser sometime mess with the zips (like they unzip/rezip --> loosing the signature. It's not your case though).

Sometime the d/l files are just corrupted, so everytime the dev provide it, check the md5sum of the zip file (use md5sum command from Term/Connectbot, from the phone, before rebooting to recovery). If he doesn't provide it, ask for it, it's no pain to give it.

Glad I could actually be of help. haha. I travel for work so thats how I came to the concusion of using that technique. It does not work all the time sometimes I have to DL it like 4 times haha..
