Eclair with kernel 2.6.27 ?

Hi devs,

How do you guys think, is it possible to build Eclair with 2.6.27 kernel (probably, along with some of Cupcake lib headers)? This could solve the current problem with drivers - by taking the ones from Moto Cupcake.

I'm sure that people thought about it before. I haven't done it myself yet, but I'm sure that compiling Eclair with 2.6.27 headers is doable. I'm just curious, why this approach was unsuccessful.

well the drivers would (most likely) need to be ported. but barak already has a fully working version, he cant release until moto does, due to legal issues.

Does he have the source code of the drivers? If not, we'll get stuck at Eclair (probably forever).
Sooner or later, we shall face the problem of Cliq/DEXT support discontinued by Moto. There are only 2 ways to overcome this:
1) Have the source code of the drivers,
2) Stick to a single kernel version and update the rest of the system.
For now, the second scenario looks more realistic to me than the first one.

The 2.6.27 kernel is what is being used in Eclair2Cliq.

Its more than just kernel level drivers, there's a bunch of
Things needed to make it all function.

Looks like our last upgrade would be porting to Cyanogen .29 Eclair.
