Leaked MotoBlur 2.1 Issues

Hello,

Many different people are working on various incarnations and custom builds of this rom for the Cliq. I figure it would be a good idea for others to post issues with applications to see if we can come up with workarounds and fixes.

As the thread grows we can document problems that will potentially be fixed in other releases and builds.

Merged all posted issues to reflect current status.

Issues:
- AccuWeather widget shows Celsius even when Fahrenheit is selected. Temp does not display half the time.
- Blur widgets cause battery issues & lag
- Blur home lags
- Connected Music Player hangs/freezes
- Connectbot utilizes the wrong keyboard layout
- Corporate email not working correctly (requires log off/on to fix)
- FM Radio n/a
- Google Voice outgoing calls utilizing your outgoing number n/a (see GV forums for info)
- Hardware 3D Accleration/hw3d is not available and possible running in framebuffer mode.
- Users reported address book issues, lost contacts and problems with sim contacts.
- Market connectivity issue - Solved
- Menu button x2 doesn't unlock the screen.
- Problems assigning ringtones to text/sms messages
- Seems to pick a random nickname/screen name of a person when you merge contacts (sometimes it displays their Twitter screen name, sometimes Facebook, sometimes Google).
- Terminal emulator force closes (*** varies by rom) (resolved → push term.apk or re-download from Market)
- Unable to "favorite" contacts.
- Wifi Tether for Root Users

Resolved:
- Blur Home Workaround -> Replace with LauncherPro or ADW.Launcher
- Blur Widgets Workaround -> Disable or remove apk files/download alt. rom
- Connected Music Player workaround -> Replace w/ stock Music.apk
- Root fix -> Apply ChainsDD su 2.2 zip via recovery
- Terminal force close fix -> Push new term.apk or download from market.
- Wifi Tether workaround -> Install Barnacle Wifi Tether and select "skip wpa_applicant"

Can confirm Voice outgoing calls not working.

Happenings widget will not allow me to choose more than 25 contacts to update for. I can only choose all or choose up to 25. (so far have not been able to find anyone with same issue)

News and Happenings widgets won't slide to next page (exact same problem in 1.5) This is not constant...however it is more frequent than in 1.5.

Connected Music player freezes and the widget is unresponsive 90% of the time.

I have a problem with all this blur ! Its slowing down my fone killin my battery nd eatin up my ram like its candy. Besides that only problem is if I resize a widget the delete it the screen will mess up and show the widgets still there (even tho I deletd it) and I cant do anything else with the fone so I have to restart it. Also sluggish 3g when I tether but when I speedtest I got a max of 3500kbps. Besides that stuff no problem btw the new youtbe app is awesome love the hq botton

If you're comfortable with editing your rom I recommend removing some of the blur default apps.

I also have a problem when you link contacts (eg google+facebook+twitter) it randomly chooses what name to apply to the contact, even tough you can edit the contact name, it will stay with the "nickname" it chooses being fb or twitter in my case... it doesnt choose google or motoblur names...

I also have the first problem, another thing I noticed is that I can't turn off the SD card notification sounds no matter how many times I uncheck it. I also can't hit enter to send text messages, it just goes to the next line.

I noticed the following issues after 3 days of usage (alb3rt018's MotoBlur 2.1 v1.1).

1) Can't access youtube account, would just freeze youtube.
2) Some search results don't show even though they found some.
3) End Call takes too long to end.
4) After Unlocking Screen, it could be slow at first.

Some workarounds for some issues:

1) Don't use Connect Media Player, I use Meridian Media Player
2) For Battery issues, I use JuiceDefender. Saves a lot of power when its idle.

I can't wait for Eclair2Cliq to come out with everything.

Trimming these off will save you approximately 10-20MB/s of space. There are alternatives to each you can replace most of them with market apps.

If you're comfortable enough you can pull some off an alternative build such as Cyanogen or other variants, or just build your own (if capable).

The problem I am having is that I can't import more than 26 contacts from my Sim card. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix for this? I personally think that Motorola leaked this Rom themselves to see if the dev community can iron out the issues they are having.

I've read many people playing with this theory, also that it was a charm 2.1 quickly ported to the cliq/dext

sadly I cant help you with your sim problem... I store all my contacts in my gmail account (makes it real easier and safer if your phone's damaged or stolen IMO)

I agree, I too use Gmail contacts so I don't know if this is a hw limitation on the cliq, perhaps you can try to clear any Sim messages and see if it frees up space for more contacts.

I want 2 remove all those apps but idk how to remove them. I also would like to build a rom and again idk how to do that

Install the android-sdk and since you have root it can be done via commandline. If not you can also use Root Explorer or Estrong File Explorer, enable root options and navigate to the /system/app folder and select the files you want to delete. (rm filename)

Commands:

adb shell
su
ls
cd /system/app
rm insertfilename.apk

Just remember that deleting certain important files will cause your phone to fc constantly.

You can also backup your files before modifying them.

To do so simply open up adb shell and type:

adb pull /system/app /system/app

This will create a folder directory similar to the one on your phone and backup everything in the folder.
