    [MOD]TickCliq Beta1 - Deblurred J_r0dd (Fast 'n' Flaky)

I've alluded to this particular mod in various posts but this is basically the ROM that I use on my UK DEXT. It is NOT my own work, it is the work of J_r0dd, all I have done is pulled a load of apks out of his ROM.

It is a proper "brute force (close) and ignorance" kind of ROM, when it's not randomly force closing stuff it's benchmarking in Linpack at 3.5 - 3.7 Mflops with JIT enabled (the main reason I based this mod off J_r0dd's ROM). It's the most stable version of this ROM I have got going so far in the same way Lotus are the best new F1 team.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROM WAS DEVELOPED FOR MY OWN USE, AND MAY NOT BE HOW YOU WANT IT TO BE

At the moment, known issues I have are

    1) Instability.
    2) No messaging app installed by default in ROM - I suggest downloading Handcent or similar from the Marketplace.

Please, keep criticism constructive and advice helpful.

Thanks go to J_r0dd and to the creators of the dsixda Android Kitchen, without whom I'd probably be using a ROM that worked a whole lot better!

    ALTERNATE DOWNLOAD (mediafire)

BETA 2 WENT VERY WRONG - TOMORROW'S ANOTHER DAY!

Having been running this ROM for a while now, the instability is not what I first thought it to be. Occasionally, GoogleApps will FC (normally when the phone is first booted), and maybe once every couple of days there will be a random reset (this could be a fault with my phone). This is all worse with JIT enabled.

    To do list.

    1. GoogleApps occasional force closing
    2. Calendar Widget not working - calendar itself works fine
    3. Still investigating other apps. For example, I use ADW Launcher - would others prefer a different Launcher? Any other apps? All advice and requests considered.
    4. I've removed a whole load of ringtones and stuff to make the ROM as lightweight as possible.

From J_r0dd? Yeah. He said I could release what I want so long as I gave credit.

If I've trodden on anyone's toes, then if they PM me I'll either give credit or ask for this thread to be removed as appropriate.

Like I said, I did this purely for my own benefit, was asked about it by a couple of people late last week, so I emailed J_r0dd before giving away any links or uploading.

Pink badge would be kinda funky though

I love how a known issue is instability. Like just overall unstable lol. Just jokin with ya. I like the idea of a deblurred & de-odex'ed rom though.

Yeah, can't be more precise than that really... basically there are some blur processes still in there that decide not to work at times and Google Talk seems to have a lot of FCs (not that I use Google Talk). The market has FC'd on me a couple of times and the browser once, but that happened even on stock 1.5. On the positive note, it hasn't done the random reboot thing that the previous versions I did for myself were doing.

This was today's build, I've been messing around with it a little bit every day. I've been quite happy with it for the last few days, so I'm quite happy to release it knowing it is at least usable (I've maybe overstated the instability a touch!) I just don't want to overstate my abilities and lead people to believe they're downloading the best ROM ever, it was something I did for me, if someone wants to use it I'm glad to help.

With BETA 2 - What I'm basically trying to achieve is Beta 1 without the instability. Today I removed a load more Blur and replaced with bits of AOSP - I've got closer to a working ROM after a bit of trial and a lot of error, but certainly nothing worth releasing just yet. I'll get back on the case tomorrow and see what I can achieve. I think what I did today was trying to achieve too much, so tomorrow it's going to be small incremental changes.
