what ever happened to........
I remember a posting back in July where someone said they had a full working version of 2.1 for the Cliq but that they weren't going to release it until moto releases theirs. Now, according to moto's "schedule", 2.1 won't come out until late Q3 or early Q4. I also see Travis is no longer on that project so I'm wondering, will anyone ever see that full working version? BTW, check out Blog :: Android Happenings

Did you look in the mega fw thread and the various fully working 2.1 modded version threads?
edit:
Ok, re-read your last sentence. You meant a version of 3rd party rom that pinches the drivers/etc out of the moto leak, and wouldn't release due to it taking the leak stuff (therefore potential for repurcussions). I thought you just meant "a fully working 2.1" rom which there are about 4 or 5 of now, including the virgin Moto release.
I don't ever think you could class any Moto firmware as "fully working" could you ;-) They all have stupid bugs.Last edited by tonymy01; 08-25-2010 at 10:30 PM.

none of those are "fully" working roms... none of them have the opengl 2.0 working... not to be a smart a$$ but that wouldnt qualify as a "full" rom...

You obviously don't understand. They couldn't release it for legal reasons. They had software "stolen" from moto that was still in closed testing. By releasing it, they could have been sued by moto. That would have meant no more devs for the Cliq community. The reason it was able to be released is because they acquired a tester version off the official moto servers, with moto being at fault for leaving their servers free to be accessed by beta testers that used their phones in "the wild"

Nope, I just thought it was an interesting read and am wondering who else felt that way.
So are you saying the devs were beta testers? I'm not saying they could release anything, I was just wondering if the version that they had that they said is fully working will ever get released since the official release has been pushed out again.
I actually didn't know about the fw thread. I haven't been on here since July since I figured I would just have to wait until the official release would come, which at that time was being marked for August. I thought I would get back on here after I heard the news that moto pushed the release to late in Q3 / early Q4 to see if some of the hardware issues they were having (like blue tooth) had been fixed. You are right though, there will always be bugs, lol that's just the nature of firmware/softwareLast edited by droidcruzer; 08-26-2010 at 07:52 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
