Time to Get Organized!
I posted this message on Simply Adroid today & now I'm posting this here:
Hi all,
I figured I'd get go ahead bring this topic up since no one else has & if you know me, well you know I say it like it is. Good or Bad.
I've lost track of the # of comments I've seen on Simply Android, ModMyMobile, or where ever else people that own a Cliq/Dext/Backflip/CliqXT/Quench, etc wanting to see a "TRULY" OPENSOURCE build for each one of these phones. I'm not talking about a "port", some one skilled w/ WinZip, or whatever you want to called a "Deblurred" build. I'm talking 100% type "make" compile & it runs. Ports never work quite right, all the "De-Blur'ed" builds are still running MOTOBLUR. I don't care how you try to hide it, it's still there. Plain/Simple. So instead of wasting time/energy on this kind of stuff, why not try to do this the right way? I've seen mention of countless # people spending time working on a REAL AOSP build or getting CyanogenMod running on our phones. Here's a thought, how about instead of trying to do this alone, we try something called working as a "TEAM" & organize this effort into one? This shouldn't be about getting famous or making a name for yourself. This should be about wanting to learn about how your phone works, trying to make it run even better & in the end knowing you contributed to a great cause. So, I'm asking now, who's interested in doing this? If you are, hit me up on twitter or email me. I personally don't care about being famous, or any drama. I'm too old for that crap. I don't care where this is hosted, I just think it's time it's done.
Take care
Steve
If you're someone that has been spending your time getting AOSP/CyanogenMod working on the Cliq, CliqXT, or Backflip, please get in touch w/ me on twitter kb7sqi or kb7sqi at gmail. I want to make sure I'm clear about this is about getting the lower level stuff work 100% on all three phones. If you're skilled @ WinZip, or Ports/Mods, please don't take this wrong, but there's no need to apply.

KB7, your part of the CM team correct? I know many people would probably call it a port, however if we could get AOSP running for the CLIQ, CM shouldn't be to hard. all the CM stuff is open sourced. we could theoretically pull the drivers from moto and build us a CM.
Either case of going AOSP or Cyanogen I'm all for it. Count me in.
Has anyone see J_rodd's OC scripts/know how he does it? I assume it's a kernel exploit.

Awesome idea! A team is definitely a concept that is worth developping in the Cliq community. I'd like to be in too.

Good idea. I am willing to help any way I can.
I think we need to organize in one chat (IRC or something like that).

I know its kinda late now but, I'd like to help with this too, but didn't I post the same thing on SA... If i did (i don't remember) what happened to this plan? Some time has past and im still going thru the system to find out what each file does to see if we can get the "drivers" to work on a AOSP, i would do it my self but i don't have that experience yet but I'm trying to learn from anywhere i can
Phones: Motorola CLIQ Titanium [R.I.P]; HTC myTouch 4G [stock 2.3.4]

Great Idea
I plan on keeping my Cliq until it has an unrecoverable hardware failure and I'm handy with Java, I'd love to join your team! I'll start reading up on AOSP. Do we want to start a sourceforge project page, or something like it?
Have I really had this thing for a year now?
