Performancemanager.apk
Does anyone know how to take the Task Manager (performancemanager.apk) from the Blur_Version.2.1.5.MB200.T-Mobile.en.US and install it? I personally like that Task Manager a lot more than the ones on the Market but not sure how to go about doing it. Tried just pulling the apk and installing it with Root Explorer but its a no go.

You once you copy and paste it using Root Explorer you need to change permissions. Using root explorer press on the file to open the “Options” window and go down where it says “Permissions”, click on it and check all three under Read column and only the first one under Write. Then just reboot and it should be up and running after that.
Remember that you need to past this file to the /system/app folder. Personally I like more Advanced task killer by rechild.

My bad I thought you had the app extracted already. In that case if you have the original 2.5.1 rom zip in your sdcard root you just use Root Explorer to open the zip file and navigate to the /system/app folder. Once there locate the app you want and press and hold on it to expand the window which will say “Extract”. Root Explorer will extract the file to a folder name “Extracted” in your sdcard root. Using Root Exp, go to this folder and copy the app and proceed to paste it to the phone’s /system/app and change permissions as explained before.
Something very important when pasting file with Root Explorer is that once in the folder you want to paste an app you need to mount it as RW. By default it is mounted as RO. So on the right top of root explorer you'll see "Mount R/W", press it and then paste the file. Change permissions and reboot. This is the way it works for me always. Hope you get through.Last edited by Dominikrod; 12-20-2010 at 11:28 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ok i tried just moving the apk file only, i opened root explorer moved the file from my sdcard to system/app hit paste which root explorer wont allow a file to be pasted anyways unless its mounted right. So the file pasted i changed permissions accordingly, rebooted and there is no app or anything. Now if i go back into system/app the apk file is still there like it was before i rebooted. But its still not showing up as a app or anything after reboot

I guess you'd need a deodexed version of that file, as J_r0dd is fully deodexed iirc.

So, just tryng to help Notion because I know he doesn't have adb set up. I did the following four things:
1) used my kitchen to deodex the apk in question and tried to install....error, aplication not installed.
2) just to be sure it wasnt a mistake on my behalf, used adlx's link, unzipped, used root explorer, tried to install...error, application not installed.
3) using adb: adb remount
adb push PerformanceManager.apk /system/app
tranfered just fine
using root explorer, tried to install....error, application not installed.
4) after adb push, tried to launch because it now exists in the app tray, won't launch (obviously because it wouldn't install)
hmmmmm??
