    ROM development

    Hi Everyone

I have only just modded my DEXT and brought it up to Adlx2.1.5 standard and its great, but being a computer programmer of sorts in my spare time I am now completley intrigued as to the internal workings of a ROM, I have downloaded the Kitchen and installed it.

What I cant understand is where all the images are kept in the ROM for the default wallpapers, the splash screens etc, I know where the boot animation is kept now, but the images allude me. Dont worry I will not release anything I produce on the world, the world is not ready for that level of ineptness yet, I am just looking around a released ROM thats all.

    Any Help gratefully recieved

Actually yes we answer, like in other forums.

Splash images are in the boot.img, while default wallpapers sit in framework-res.apk.

    Thanks for the answer Adlx

I used the dsixda android kitchen to break out the files in boot.img file. There are 3 image files called logo.rle, initlogo.rle and factory.rle.

can you tell me which image show at which time during the boot sequence, I cannot view them for some reason so I would like to know which is which so I can create m own boot images for personal ROM developement

I think there is a sticky thread of how to create your boot logo's in the Theme section. If that's the only thing your after though.
