[App] AutoWifiEnabler 1.1.1 (for Wifi issues)

This post is related to the wifi issues with latest 2.1.5 build aftecting some users of Adlxmod (maybe other build).

While the issue hasn't been yet resolved as such, it seems that if the phone boots with Wifi Enabled or at least if Wifi is enabled before a 2g/3g data connexion is made (since boot), then Wifi is gonna work fine (until next boot).

So the trick is to always reboot with Wifi enabled, or Enable wifi before connectingt to 3g.

To help with that, I've made a small app that will do exactly that:

1.0: As soon as it can (BOOT_COMPLETED) the app will turn Wifi On. The goal is to have Wifi turned on before you even enter the PIN (so before conecting to 3g).

Once u enter the PIN, you should be able to disable Wifi and reenable it.

It will leave one line in logcat explaining if it could enable wifi.

1.1: It now has a Option screen to enable it or not.

1.1.1: You can choose between 3 notification type: Toast, Notification bar, None.

Has anyone (having wifi issue) tried to use my app to see if it help?
Or is it that nobody have the wifi issue after all (or nobody use Adlxmod anymore)

Btw, I've updated the app to 1.1. It now has a Option screen to enable it or not.

I'm using it! but I don't have to turn off the phone with WIFI to get WIFI. My WIFI issue is random sometimes I can't turn on WIFI, I just turn off the phone turn it on again and WIFI always works...
I know that if I have just turn it on... it's going to work... two hours later who knows!

FWIW, when I was using jR0dd's and had the WiFi problem, I found these steps worked:

1. Disable WiFi
2. Turn on Airplane Mode
3. Turn on Wifi (with Airplane Mode On*)
4. After WiFi Established, Turn Off Airplane Mode

*Now that didn't make sense to me. I thought Airplane Mode would block WiFi from being able to be enabled. But, I swear, I could still enable WiFi while Airplane Mode was on!

Since then, though, I've moved on to one of the 2.2 ROMs and I don't have the WiFi problem at all.

It seems my issue is different, because enabling wifi before 3g when booting, didn't help.
Here's what happens when I try to to connect several times with open network in university with good signal strength. I have reboted phone with wifi enabled, 3g disabled (using APN on/off widget). Wifi enabler works as it is said to. My country is Latvia, if that might help.

- Wifi is enabled, but nothing appears on status bar.
- I go to Wifi settings and look for awailable signals.
- There is this signal with good strenght.
- I push on it and phone gives me options: connect, forget and smth else I think
- I choose connect.
- Phone is optaining ip address.
- Then optaining ends, but connection is not established.
- I try again.

After each try I look in app NetCounter and it shows few Kb has been downloaded durind connection attempt.

I have no clue what this means, but it seems log shows the problem. Maybe Adlx can get something useful out of this. Help would be greatly appriciated! 3g is expensive and wifi is awailable around town.

I just got an internet plan and all of a sudden the wifi issue started, but with this app worked perfectly!

Well, today I suffered again the wifi issue (I think it's because I flashed the last path for adlxmod and I reboot the phone with wifi disabled). The problems changed from "Wifi not connected" to stucked in "obtaining ip...". I checked the AutoWifienabler at startup and reboot the phone. As it's supposed to, the app got the wifi before input the pin and it showed the icon on the notification bar. After that I was able to enable and disable the wifi working perfect anytime.

I have the same issue

Wifi didn't work at all, applied patch, now I can switch it on and off but it can't obtain an IP.

Says 'obtaining IP from [network name]' for about 30 seconds, then fails.

Any ideas?

Otherwise I love your ROM, it's beautiful, just need a wifi connection!!!

Actually, I might have sussed this. I thought I'd already tried this method, but apparently not! Seems to be working now (*fingers crossed*).

For anyone else finding this issue...

Apply the wifi patch.
Boot the phone, and attempt to connect.
When the connection fails, reboot the phone with wifi enabled.
Should connect ok, and allow reconnects and disconnects.

Does here anyway, I'll check back in a few days!
