Phone partitions

I've searched around for this but no luck. What are the a/b/c partitions I see in P2ktools for my SLVR 7? I read in a menu in p2k commander that 'a' is the phone and 'c' is the sd card..but what does that mean? what is stored in each partition? 'a' and 'c' have a single folder 'mobile' with some of the same subfolders.

a) basically is the 'system'
b) is the memory card
c) is the phone memory to store stuff, from ringtones, to wallpapers to java apps... skins... pics...
