    SMS threading/timestamp

Posted in the Android Community as well. just want this to be fixed!

    Hey all,

Maybe it's just me finding this annoying, maybe it's not and it's somewhere in the thousands of posts (which i tried to search) and did not find.

But why in the world does the SMS threading group all the messages from Me at the bottom and all the ones from the other party at the top? shouldn't it organize and THREAD it based on the last received/sent?

    BUT!

this could be because all the messages from ME have the correct timestamp but the incoming messages have incorrect time stamps (about 5hrs behind).

Is there a way to change the time stamp on the incoming message?

Its; very weird!! cause on the VIEW ALL THREADS screen the last message would say i received it at 5:42pm but when check the message details it says 12:42.

anyone else have this problem? or a fix to this problem?

see the photoshop mock up that i did below..

See how in the threaded area JANE DOE's time stamp is 11:15am and 11:20am? but it should really be 4:15pm and 4:20pm.. but the timestamp for ME is correct at 4:18pm and 4:19pm.

But when you look at the messaging main Page it says the last message was at 4:20pm.. it doesn;t correspond with the threaded timestamp..

hopefully i am explaining this correctly.. i am assuming that all my incoming messages are at the top of the thread because of the 5 hour timestamp difference

im guessing the timestamp is based on the time settings of the senders phone. is their time/date settings correct?

yes i am assuming so ... every text message thread i have is like this..

i tested from my blackberry as well and the time on my blackberry is correct..

so i guess i am alone on this? i thought the update would fix it.. but it didn't.. maybe it's some sorta setting!?

it seems your timezone is messed up. Goto Settings > Date & Time, uncheck 'Automatic' and manually enter your date and time.

I had the same issue. (I'm with fido in canada).

go into Time & Settings and set it to manual. Put your timezone to 0 and it will work.

The reason for this is that T-mobile relies on the phone to set the timestamp correctly on txt messages.

Fido/Rogers on the other hand get adjusted automatically at the tower before the message arrives thus the phone adjusts it a second time... hence why the timestamp is way off.
that is what someone told me to do from another forum .. thanks for your help guys.. just wanted to share the info ; >

<---happy that He has properly threaded sms now
