How to stop the L7 from searching for network
I did have a search through the guides and other posts, but haven't had any luck finding a solution. Perhaps you guys can help, I have a hard time believing this problem is unique.
I work in a basement lab most days, hence I have zero reception here. If I forget to turn the phone off every morning, it nukes the battery fairly quickly on me. I'm going to try setting it to network settings, slow, and see if that helps, however it would be better if there there is a way to stop it attempting to connect when there is no service, or at least vastly reduce the frequency of attempts. Obviously I don't want it to never connect when I turn it on elsewhere, or never change networks/towers as I roam around, but I think you get the idea. Thoughts?

Its a thought, though I don't actually have it on my version I think, hence I'd need to add it. However the real problem is that when I remember its easy enough to simply grab it and turn the whole thing off, (yes that uses some battery itself but its a lot less than 8 or 12 hours of searching for the network in vain).
The problem is that I don't really use the phone that much, so unlike many, its in the side of my bag most of the time, and I don't think about it much.
Hence it becomes easy to forget about it.

Ok seriously, this is the 2nd thread that you are giving FALSE information....in only 5 posts!
So please, do us all a favor and shut up!
Now, you need WAY more than seem edits. You have to edit the CG1 to add airplane mode, edit dnp.prf to give it the name "airplane mode" and i cant remember if you have to do seem edits or edit the mma which is why i suggest you read up on how to do it and not take my word for the whole thing since it has been forever since i did it (when it was first discovered)
EDIT: okay go here and search for "airplane mode" it will tell you exactly what to do...but it leaves out HOW to do it. that is where the guides come in from the guides section. pm me if the guides fail to aid you.Last edited by LighTer; 08-10-2007 at 11:45 AM.

Maybe it's easier to keep it off, and power it up only when you need it? Seriously, is the phone without a network a phone at all? What is the point of a mobile phone, if you don't want it to be "on-line"?
EDIT: Another idea - try Connection/Network/Network Setup/Type set to Manual, maybe this will help!
Phone's history: Nokia 1610, Alcatel DB, Nokia 3210, Alcatel OT301, Ericsson R320, Ericsson T65i, Siemens C60, Motorola V980, Motorola ROKR E1, Motorola V3x, Motorola L7 (once a Moto, always a Moto!)

id tend to agree with sashk here, and think maybe you should turn your phone on when you need it and leave it off most the time.
