That's just the main part of your sdcard, NOT in any folder.
Example, if windows sets your G1 to H:\ drive, just copy update.zip to H:\

im getting the same error "can't open /sdcard** installation aborted" but i have it just posted in root on the card with nothing else on the card and it keeps giving me this. It is when i am attempting to go from rc29 to rc30 i went down to rc29 no problems, but when attempting to do the update it wont allow me..

Hmm, just follow the same steps you used to update to 1.41, except use the macdroid update.zip instead of the JF image.

Why do you need to do this? Make sure your phone's connected to your PC.

because when i go through the steps and get to cat /sdcard/recovery_testkeys.img > recovery.img it is stating that it is in read only mode... how do i get past that?

If it does then you are already upgraded to 1.41.
Use terminal emulator for telnet, it should be installed .
Is it?
When it opens type in su
You should get a # prompt.

Then type in ls /data
You should see a directory listing.


Let me know if it works.
