im stuck at ./busybox --install.
after i enter this into my terminal its says
busybox : /data/data/busybox/top: no file or such directory and etc.

why is that?
is my busybox i downloaded corrupted or something
it should just extract those files from what i downloaded right?

Not working on US Milestone running 2.1 either, AdHoc network appears but it just says : "Not in range, remembered"...

Just wondering, if you only modify "tiwlan.ini" would that be enough for the AdHoc network to appear in the list? On my Milestone it doesn't make it appear...hence the problem I'm guessing.

Hey, I just got the Motorola Xoom tablet (Honeycomb Android 3.0) which I rooted (first thing I did). Does anyone know if this process works on the Xoom? I bought it w/o the "highway-robbery" $20/mo for 1gb data plan from Verizon since I already have a mytouch and is able to wifi hotspot but cannot connect b/c the phone creates an ad-hoc network which is unrecognized by the xoom...annoying....

It may. I guess the best way to know is to try it.

Why not trying to use a different wifi teather?? I'm guessing ur using Barnacle as they're the common ones who use ad-hoc (maybe only?) Either way if u cook the rom in the kitchen and add wireless teathering in there the signal isn't ad-hoc

Just a suggestion
If I were at my computer id make a flash for u

I think you are misreading the post jassy. By default, these androids can't connect to an adhoc, they can broadcast an adhoc, but can't connect to one. This will allow you to create an adhoc on a pc then connect phone to pc. There is a patch by adlx that allows this for the cliq (different than the one for G1).

Ok...some good news and some bad news....was able to go so far as to remounting /system partition as rw. Was able to access /system/etc/wifi however, there is NO tiwlan.ini file!! The only two files in the directory are bcm4329.cal (which I imagine maybe be the module/driver for the wifi) and wpa_supplicant.conf which, when I opened with vi was completely blank.... any thoughts?

Don't know why wpa_supplicant.conf was blank but it makes sense that tiwlan.ini is not there, as it wasn't in other moto phones. I'm looking for a post by adlx that has a patch for adhoc. You might find some info there, when I find it, I'll post it.

cannot find tiwlan.ini

Hi All,

Facing the same problem of not finding the tiwlan.ini file under the path. I have a HTC Desire HD with root access.

I found sumthing regarding appending the wpa_supplicant.conf in form:

echo "ap_scan=2" >> wpa_supplicant.conf

But this didn't solve the issue.

Also, wud sound a little noob-ish. I am unable to exit from the VI editor after modifications. Please cud anyone guide me with the exit procedure again!

Regards,
Arpan
