G1 Activation without SIM

I have managed to unlock the G1 phone, but I am havining difficulties in the activation process via the local GSM provides (Alfa and MTC) in Lebanon its seems the technical support have no experince with G1 phone yet. Any ne has successfully done the activation via WIFI internet access instead of the normal way. Plz reply with suggestions

If your carrier is not listed try google to find the APNs for your carrier.

(Both of the suggestions that sjgt and I gave can be found even without searching by looking in the unlocking/activation section)

I am visiting paris next week, i am wondering if any one has the APN configuration from a french GSM operator where i can buy prepaid card with GPRS enabled and can activate the phone
